Relay For Life of Moravian College: Supporting a Cause and Discovering New Music

Last night, I had the honor and privilege of serving as the Fight Back speaker at Relay For Life of Moravian College.

In case you aren’t aware, I am a cancer survivor (14 years a week from today), and I have been a serial Relayer for years now. Last night was my 24th Relay overall, and my 13th Survivorship speech. I do this to provide some hope to those going through their own bouts with the disease, and to use my second chance for good. I want to thank Kayla Smith and the Moravian chapter of Colleges Against Cancer for hosting me once again in such a place of significance to me (not only am I a 2010 Moravian grad, but my first Relay For Life speech took place on campus in 2008).

But, enough about me. I’m here to put the focus on music. While I was at Relay, I had the pleasure of meeting and listening to another one of the Valley’s great talents yesterday in Bethlehem singer-songwriter Chris Aguayo.

Listening to Chris’ intricate guitar playing was a treat. That, coupled with his unique baritone, made for an exciting set of his originals alongside covers with a twist. Since last night, I had the chance to check out some of his music online, and I’m excited for what his future holds. He and his band are already making a statement gigging around the Valley. I look forward to seeing that continue.

Want to see and hear what I’m talking about? Check out Chris’ video for “Back Home” below, and learn more about him online.

P.S.: Shoutout to my brother, DJ Dominic Longo, for holding down the pre-recorded music duties all night (even if he trolled me by playing me into my speech with Roman Reigns’ theme music).
