Review: Stay Loud Stays True with ‘Overboard’

Northeast PA pop punks Stay Loud have stayed true to their name, returning with high-energy single “Overboard.”

“Overboard” kicks in right away with a high-powered guitar riff and uptempo rhythms to get the listener moving, all with the support of an urgent, dark undertone that suggests, like the single’s artwork, that an inner storm may be on the rise.

Frontman Chris Cashmere sings about not being able to get out of his own way, and the intense mental anguish of being one’s “own worst enemy” seems to explode late in the chorus, as well as during the bridge, which features anguished, post-hardcore-inspired screams to suggest that the walls have caved in around our song’s protagonist.
