Ralph’s Reviews: Julia Sommer Lays a Strong Foundation on ‘Roots’
Now that Musikfest is behind us, it’s time to start looking ahead. If Julia Sommer’s debut EP “Roots” is any indication, the future is very bright for this young artist.
“Roots” is the perfect introduction to one of the Lehigh Valley’s up-and-coming stars. From the musical arrangements to the powerful vocals, this three-song is a true listening pleasure start to finish.
“Sundial” is a lively, upbeat pop-rock tune that definitely catches your attention right away. “Transcendance” is a nicely arranged ballad, while “Picking Up the Pieces” is another rocking song that can easily get stuck in your head. Overall, it’s easy to see why Julia was selected as the Lehigh Valley Music Awards’ 2017’s Female Vocalist of the Year, and why “Roots” is just a taste of the great music we can look forward to in the future.
You can follow Julia on social media — Facebook, Twitter, Instagram — and find a Spotify stream of “Roots” below. For more information, visit her website at juliasommer.rocks. If you have an opportunity to see Julia perform live, do yourself a favor — go. You won’t be disappointed.
