WATCH: On ‘I of the Hurricane,’ Alex Radus Rallies Against the Egocentric

Have you ever met somebody who, at all costs, absolutely must remain the center of attention?

“I of the Hurricane” — the latest from Alex Radus‘ forthcoming album, Tributaries — Recorded Live at Godfrey Daniels — is a slow-burning, at-times-scathing account of these individuals and the paths of destruction they tend to leave behind

Beginning with nothing more than simple hand percussion and the timbre of Radus’ impassioned voice, the soundscape swells with tension as Radus’ description of the self-centered becomes more intense and direct. The contained sonic fury bubbles gradually to the surface as instrumental layers enter the atmosphere, with a low-register guitar dirge offering emphatic accents that serve as a rallying cry against the egocentric.

Recorded live at the legendary Godfrey Daniels listening room in Bethlehem, PA, “I of the Hurricane” is the follow-up to the album’s first single, the swing-influenced “We Can’t Play Like Django” (ft. Pyrenesia). Purchase it on Bandcamp, and watch the official video below!
