SUMMARY:Sam Varga\, Alyssa Lazar\, and Borderline Natives at The East Room
DESCRIPTION:With just three short years in Nashville\, Sam Varga has already established himself as serious writer and dynamic performer. Coming up in the fast-paced punk scenes of his high school days and the blues of Austin\, Texas\, there is an edge and energy that makes his songs stand out in Music City. After quickly coming up through the writing ranks in Nashville\, Sam turned his attention to his solo career\, amassing more than a million streams on Spotify with 40\,000 monthly listeners\, and multiple viral videos with more than 100\,000 TikTok followers. Coming off of multiple viral releases\, his latest single “Fall Down” is a hint in a new direction\, and a nod to his pop/punk and emo roots. \nFueled by the sound and passion of classic rock and roll music\, Alyssa Lazar brings a 1970’s nostalgia to today’s pop/rock music. Lazar grew up in Scranton\, PA\, constantly surrounded by music\, and began singing at the age of three. Her transition from singer to musical artist began when she learned to play the piano at the age of eight. Following this\, she began to write songs\, compose\, and accompany herself for weekly performances at every venue throughout her hometown by the age of fifteen. After high school\, Alyssa moved to Nashville\, TN to continue pursuing her music career. Her love for piano\, mixed with her love for classic rock\, brought Alyssa’s music to a sound reminiscent of artists such as Elton John\, Lady Gaga\, Billy Joel\, and Queen. Lazar unapologetically brings out her fiery spirit and dauntless attitude within her theatrical\, rock and roll inspired sound. \nBorderline Natives have a streamlined alternative/pop punk sound that is being compared to Taking Back Sunday\, Neck Deep\, blink-182\, and State Champs. The band’s lyrical content relates to those who have ever felt lost\, those who have never belonged\, and anyone who has experienced heartbreak or a loss of unity. \n$10 | 18+ to enter | Must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a recent negative test to enter. \nTICKETS

SUMMARY:NashLive! Pop-Up: Borrowed Sparks and Riley Haynie
DESCRIPTION:We’ve always got new tricks up our sleeves at NashLive!. Next Saturday\, February 12\, we’re giving you a night of rock and roll on us. \nWe’re excited to team with The Cobra Nashville (2511 Gallatin Ave.) on our first ever free NashLive! Pop-Up. We’ll be in the venue’s front bar\, where we’ll bring you the musical stylings of Borrowed Sparks and Riley Haynie on the house. \nWe once described the music of Borrowed Sparks as “a prime cut of American rock and roll… calling to mind the maverick spirit of the legendary Tom Petty\, layered with a simmering angst sure to appeal to fans of artists ranging from Social Distortion to The Gaslight Anthem.” We certainly still feel that way\, and are excited to team up with Mike Bay and co. as they show you what they’ve been working on — including acoustic renditions of the band’s signature tracks\, which you can find over on Spotify as they’re released. \nMike brought his good friend Riley Haynie into the fold. The Montana native — who released his debut album\, Years\, in 2021 — brings hardcore and heavy metal roots to his brand of punk-infused rock and roll. He also just released a fun cover of Cher’s 1998 single\, “Believe\,” which you can find over here. \nThis is usually where we tell you about ticket price information\, but again\, this show is free! Come to Cobra Nashville at 8 p.m. with a valid photo ID (21+)\, and come hang with the NashLive! community.

SUMMARY:NashLive! Presents: Krantz\, YEARLOVE\, and Forts Like Vana at The High Watt
DESCRIPTION:Any time we’ve been on Cannery Row has been a good time. (Remember this one?) So\, on Friday\, February 4\, we’re heading back on behalf of NashLive! \nThis time\, we’ll be at The High Watt (1 Cannery Row\, Nashville) as we bring the rock to downtown Nashville. We will be re-joined on that night by prior NashLive! performers Krantz and Forts Like Vana\, while welcoming eclectic alt-rockers YEARLOVE into the fold. \nKrantz can best be described as “rock ‘n roll in color from Music City\, USA.” You may remember that Krantz joined us smack in the middle of a fun rock lineup at Cobra back in October. We were captivated by his sound and potent onstage energy\, and we can’t wait to welcome him back! \nYEARLOVE is an alternative rock band residing in Nashville\, Tennessee. The band take cues from musicians all across the musical spectrum\, drawing influence from various genres such as rock\, pop\, alternative\, and jazz. SUMMARY:NashLive! Presents: Sly Boy\, The Sewing Club\, Tiger Sex\, and SHELBYY
DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to announce a new rock show at The Cobra Nashville on Friday\, December 10. This time\, we’ll welcome locals Sly Boy\, The Sewing Club\, and SHELBYY\, who will be joined all the way from Cincinnati by internationally-known punks Tiger Sex\, whom we had the pleasure of meeting right here in Nashville a couple years back. \nSly Boy is a dark alternative outfit based in Nashville\, TN. After producing records for several Nashville area artists\, Sly Boy released his self-produced\, genre-fluid LP “Jibō Complex” in May of 2021. His live performances feature a mixture of rock\, noisewave\, and pop macabre. \nThe Sewing Club is a Nashville Rock band that formed in 2019. The group released their first single on January 16th\, 2021 and are working with Jared Corder of Repeat Repeat* to release their debut EP this year. \nTiger Sex is an energetic\, in your face\, animalistic rock and roll band currently based in Cincinnati\, Ohio. Known for pulling out all the stops during their live performances\, the band has performed across the United States several times over\, as well as in Canada\, Mexico\, and the United Kingdom. \nSHELBYY is a modern pop-punk/rock artist from Los Angeles\, currently residing in Nashville. Her recent single\, “LOUD\,” is the quintessential post-COVID anthem\, and a sign of the fun\, edgy material she has coming down the pipeline. She’ll surely bring that same energy to the table when she joins us in East Nashville! \n$10 | 21+ to enter

Inspired by the culture of competing sound systems originating in Kingston\, Jamaica\, Red Bull SoundClash is set over multiple rounds as bands and artists musically duke it out\, with the recipient of the biggest crowd reaction (captured on a decibel meter) to be crowned champion. While these artists may be competing against each other at every turn\, SoundClash is ultimately a celebration of the power of live music\, collaboration\, and creative empowerment. \nNashville gets ready for Red Bull SoundClash as Nashville native Bren Joy brings the rhythm against glam pop star Jake Wesley Rogers\, as they go song-for-song in the ultimate face-off at Marathon Music Works. \nHosted by Noelle Scaggs (Fitz & The Tantrums) + DJ Jerry J (Old Crow Medicine Show) as the House DJ \nEntrance to this event will require proof of one of the below items: \n\nA full course of COVID-19 vaccination\, with their final dose at least fourteen days prior to the show. SUMMARY:NashLive! and Pop Rocks! present: Jon Pattie\, DISCOFOX\, and Ahli
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, November 20\, NashLive! will team with Pop Rocks! to showcase more of Nashville’s best talent at The Cobra (2511 Gallatin Ave.\, Nashville). That night\, we’ll welcome Pop Rocks! founder Jon Pattie alongside pop-soul band DISCOFOX and pop/R&B songwriter Ahli. \nTeacher by day\, passionate singer-songwriter by night. These are just a few ways to describe indie singer-songwriter Jon Pattie. Starting his music career off as the lead guitarist in a wide variety of bands\, Jon ventured into his solo career while pursuing a degree in chemical engineering. Since\, Jon has released a number of projects\, including his most recent EP\, Reflections\, Vol. II. Pattie uses the EP to touch on his battles with depression and within difficult relationships\, while motivating his listeners to always follow their dreams. \nDISCOFOX is a Nashville-based pop/soul band created by New York City Broadway actor Daniel Sovich. These catchy melodies and powerhouse vocals sewn together with the rhythms of Nashville’s top musicians provide for an in-your-face\, high-energy evening. DISCOFOX is an all around experience. Come witness The Fox. \nAhli is gender-neutral songwriter and producer with a passion for all things pop and R&B. With a background in commercial music and a college degree in production\, Ahli’s music is both raw and fine-tuned. Their song-writing influences include Troye Sivan and Maggie Rodgers with production style similar to Carley Rae Jepsen. Getting their start in small-town\, rural New Jersey dive bars\, they’ve now performed at music festivals across the United States including\, Musicfest\, Cape May Music Festival\, Port St. Lucie Music Festival\, Treasure Coast Music Festival and most recently\, the International Stay the F*ck Home Fest most with Sonicbids\, which had more than 1\,000 people tune in from all over the United States and Europe.

SUMMARY:NashLive! Presents: Quinn O'Donnell\, Tess\, and Spirits Republic
DESCRIPTION:Here’s something we already know about Thursday\, November 18: it’s going to rock\, and rock hard. \nHow do we know? Because that’s when we’ll be at The Cobra Nashville (2511 Gallatin Ave.) with a rock and roll lineup featuring Quinn O’Donnell\, Vera Bloom\, and Spirits Republic. \nQuinn O’Donnell is known across Nashville for her raw and emotional performances. Her unique blend of alternative rock paired with atmospheric songwriting gives her a unique\, yet timeless sound. Taking inspiration from artists like Death Cab For Cutie and Radiohead\, O’Donnell takes root in the early 2000’s and late 90’s. Through her touring and local DIY shows\, Quinn and her band full of friends have made their mark in venues across the Nashville area and beyond. \nFor alternative rock artist Tess\, songs are born from moments — angry\, filled with confusion\, or laced with hope. The songwriter unveils those experiences with her piano centric style\, fusing modern pop and classic rock.
For many years Tess supported other acts on keys\, BGVs\, and as a music journalist. Now she allows her music to rise to the front\, giving ear to her creativity inspired by powerful artists like Fiona Apple\, Ben Folds and Elton John. In 2020 Tess released her debut single\, “Good For Nobody\,” introducing her sound and perspective as a songwriter. The indie pop anthem was followed by a closer lean into her rock influences with “Fade Away (To Gray)\,” featuring upbeat piano and sliding guitar. Working with producer Parke Cottrell of Colony House\, the artist recorded her debut EP\, set to release the forthcoming summer. The songwriter shares how she wrestles with anxiety\, her inner-critic\, and learns to find purpose in the middle of it all. \nGroovy. Heavy. Psychedelic. These are three words that have been used time and time again to describe Nashville based alternative/experimental rock band\, Spirits Republic. The band is known to deliver a fun\, fresh slice of progressive alt-rock and has been cited as being\, “dynamic\,” “unapologetic\,” and “like Led Zeppelin mixed with The Smashing Pumpkins\, with a hint of early Red Hot Chili Peppers and Primus.”

SUMMARY:NashLive! Presents: Chloe Hogan\, Alyssa Lazar\, and Ali Henderson
DESCRIPTION:We’ll be back at The East Room on Thursday\, November 11 with another fresh lineup of Nashville-based female pop artists Chloé Hogan\, Alyssa Lazar\, and Ali Henderson. \nChloé Hogan takes pieces of every artist she’s ever heard\, to inspire her storytelling and songwriting. Her music includes an array of old Motown soul harmonies and live-sounding instrumentals. Though most of what Chloé writes seems to be accented by its bright and groovy nature\, the lyrics and overall feeling behind the music are much more somber. The “timeless” conversation of love — and the more evident loss — is the focal point of each work. The incredible dichotomy of her uplifting grooves\, partnered with her melancholy lyrical composition\, is perhaps the most unique component of Chloé Hogan’s music. Following this\, she began to write songs\, compose\, and accompany herself for shows and performances at every venue throughout her hometown weekly by the age of fifteen. After high school\, Alyssa moved to Nashville\, TN to continue pursuing her music career. Her love for piano mixed with her love for classic rock brought Alyssa’s music to a sound reminiscent of artists such as Elton John\, Lady Gaga\, Billy Joel\, and Queen. Lazar unapologetically brings out her fiery spirit and dauntless attitude within her theatrical\, rock and roll inspired sound. \nSouth Carolina native-turned-Nashville resident Ali Henderson was born to be something special. While southern culture is often synonymous with sweet tea\, warm nights\, and Country music\, it’s always refreshing for an Alt-pop artist like Henderson to emerge from quaint towns like Gaffney\, South Carolina. In 2015\, Henderson earned a one-way ticket to Hollywood thanks to American Idol\, impressing the likes of Keith Urban\, Harry Connick Jr. and Jennifer Lopez. After the show she moved to Nashville\, where she completed a degree in Songwriting. Gutsy lyrics\, fresh yet familiar instrumentation\, and killer vocals are Henderson’s M.O. \n$10 at the door | 18+ to enter | Must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a recent negative test

SUMMARY:NashLive! Presents: Skylar Gregg\, Charles Ellsworth\, and The Daily Fare
DESCRIPTION:It’s an Americana showcase in the heart of East Nashville on Wednesday\, October 20\, when Skylar Gregg\, Charles Ellsworth\, and The Daily Fare join us at The Cobra! \nSkylar Gregg engages in a gripping cocktail of hard work\, humor\, and self discovery\, expressing vivid lyrical imagery and raw grit that soaks into every note of her songwriting. The Nashville-based musician translates that into a mixed bag of retro southern music immersed in old soul\, 60’s and 70’s country and blues. \nCharles Ellsworth is an NYC transplant by way of the White Mountains of Arizona where he was raised on Mormon hymns and Top 40 country music. A storyteller by nature\, Ellsworth’s lyrics and near-familiar melodies weave to tell stories of heartbreak and loneliness\, while shining a light on the perseverance of the human spirit. A self-proclaimed “recovering toxic sadboy” — Ellsworth’s music has evolved with him. Through sobriety and self-exploration\, Ellsworth has shifted from writing songs lamenting “the ones that got away\,” to singing honest reflections about what caused them to leave and doing the work to be better. \nNorthern-born songwriters Alissa Abeler and Hannah Smith joined creative forces to form the duo now known as The Daily Fare. The pair grew up on opposite sides of the music world\, with influences ranging from Judy Garland and Adele to Beethoven and Bach\, with a healthy dose of Broadway\, punk cabaret\, and 80s ballads sprinkled in the mix. \nTheir shared affection for poignant and evocative narrative teamed with years of playing small intimate shows have transformed the once-placid duo’s sound into the story-weaving powerhouse they are today. With characteristically unique vocal harmonies and engaging instrumentation\, The Daily Fare are carving out a niche for themselves within the Americana genre while their honest and occasionally eccentric approach to storytelling continues to engage new listeners on this creative journey. Their sound has been compared to First Aid Kit\, The Milk Carton Kids\, and The Civil Wars. \n$10 at the door | 21+ to enter

King\, who released her Divine EP earlier this month\, is a rising star on Nashville’s alt-pop scene. The Concord\, NC native crafted the EP through the chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic\, and uses her music as a vehicle for peace\, energy\, and self-empowerment. \nInspired by vocalists like Nina Simone\, Etta James\, Amy Winehouse\, and Sade\, Fresh Lady’s velvety voice winds you through a minefield of romance\, recovery\, and self-acceptance. The Brooklyn-born\, Nashville-based artist (real name: Emma Morcroft) earned her stripes singing at blues jams at the age of 14\, and her sound has progressed to a unique blend she calls “Soul Candy Pop\,” which can be heard on her debut EP\, Citrine\, available on all streaming platforms.

SUMMARY:John McLaughlin at City Winery Nashville
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS: http://bit.ly/jonmclaughlinUMC \nEverything in Jon McLaughlin’s life makes its way into his music\, whether he’s conscious of it or not. The artist\, raised in Indiana and based in Nashville\, brings all of his experiences and beliefs into each song he creates\, something that is especially true now that he’s the father of two young girls. \n\nJon released his debut album\, Indiana\, in 2007 on Island Def Jam\, attracting fans with his heartfelt\, hook-laden songwriting and impassioned delivery. He’s released six full-lengths in the years since and revealed a true evolution in both his piano playing and singing. He’s played shows with Billy Joel\, Kelly Clarkson and Adele\, collaborated with longtime friend Sara Bareilles\, co-written with Demi Lovato and even performed at the Academy Awards in 2008. \nJon’s album\, Like Us\, dropped in October of 2015 via Razor & Tie\, and he spent the past few years touring extensively before heading back into his Nashville studio to work on new music. Jon released a Christmas EP in 2017 titled Red & Green with two originals and his take on a few holiday classics. In November of 2018 Jon released his album Angst & Grace which features “Still My Girl” written for his youngest daughter. \nAnother project started in 2018 is his Dueling Pianos video series. Every episode features a new guest artist and they perform mashups of never been heard arrangements. \nIn Fall of 2019 Jon released an instrumental piano album titled Mood. This record demonstrates Jon’s artistry and captivates his talent as a pianist. In May 2020 the second edition of the project was released. \nIn August Jon put out his first Pop release Things I Say To Myself since Angst & Grace with immediate fan favorites A Break Up Song\, and People Like You. Jon will wrap up 2020 with a Holiday EP release titled “Christmas Time”. \nAs with everything he does\, Jon’s goal is to create connections. He wants to translate his experiences and ideas into music that reaches fans everywhere. His passion for music and playing is evident in each note he plays.
