SUMMARY:NashLive! Presents: Chelcie Jette\, Ria Barkr\, and ARREIS at The Cobra Nashville
DESCRIPTION:Pairing smooth\, yet dynamic vocal melodies with full-band instrumentals\, Chelcie Jette writes and creates with a vibe in mind. What is that vibe? Think a dim light room cast in bright purples and pinks\, plush seating scattering the floors\, and a dreamy haze that envelops the air. \nFollowing the building momentum of noteworthy releases\, national performances and festival plays including stops at MajorStage\, Sofar Sounds\, and iHeartRadio in NYC under a former stage name\, R&B singer-songwriter Ria Barkr surrendered to the universe and began looking inward during the global shutdown. As a result\, she tapped into a fountain of creativity that flowed out of the chanteuse\, and into a fresh collection of new songs. Now\, Ria is already a promising R&B trailblazer in her own right who’s not afraid to change the game. \nEx-church girl turned extravagant frontman\, ARREIS uses her intensity intertwined with intimacy to capture the hearts and minds of her audience. In each album\, ARREIS blends other genres with her mainstream dark pop sound to fit a specific mood and color (“synesthesia”). With aspirations of the Super Bowl Halftime Show\, she is a meticulous band leader and bona fide diva\, making her live shows stadium-ready.

SUMMARY:NashLive! Takeover: A Special Writers Round at The Listening Room
DESCRIPTION:NashLive! will be taking over Nashville’s iconic The Listening Room Cafe on Monday\, October 3 with a special writers round event — featuring songwriters from here in Nashville… and beyond! \nTICKETS\nBilly Bauer is a Bethlehem\, PA-based songwriter and the frontman of Billy Bauer Band\, an acoustic rock quartet who has opened for the likes of Tim Reynolds\, Phillip Phillips\, Third Eye Blind\, and many more\, and whose popular Dave Matthews Band tribute show sells out venues across eastern Pennsylvania. Billy will bring his Martin Guitar all the way to Nashville to perform selections from the band’s catalog\, which dates all the way back to 2006’s full-length debut\, Another Day is Coming. \nErin McLendon is a country artist\, entrepreneur\, and co-founder of Music on the Move Studios\, a community organization which provides educational and performance opportunities to Nashville’s robust community of female musicians and entrepreneurs. Erin is gearing up to release a new album later this summer\, with the first two singles — “Millie” and “Sunday Crowd” — available for streaming everywhere! \nSpeaking of powerhouse female musicians-slash-entrepreneurs\, J.Antonette certainly fits the description. Not only is the New York native a force to be reckoned with on the pop country circuit — her latest single\, “Heartbroken in a Honky Tonk\,” is out now — but she is the founder of Native Manor\, a boutique entertainment company based in Nashville and New York City\, and Bundle Up Nash\, a charitable organization known for its holiday clothing and toy drives. \nGrowing up in a self-described “wacky\, doomsday Bible cult\,” Wesley David sought refuge through music. His passion has served him well — for many years\, Wes has toured the country performing his whimsical\, tongue-in-cheek blend of pop and rock for live audiences of all shapes and sizes. This October\, he’ll join us as he hits the road in advance of his 6-song EP\, Satori\, due out later this year.

SUMMARY:NashLive! Presents: CH3LS\, Allan Fine & The Finites\, and Good News for Modern Man at The 5 Spot
DESCRIPTION:We’ll return once again to The 5 Spot (1006 Forrest Ave.\, Nashville) for another night rooted in the grand tradition of rock and roll. This time\, we’re bringing CH3LS\, Allan Fine & The Finites\, and The Z-Man Experience into the fold! \nTrue Blue Rocker Chelsee Foster (CH3LS) has been a veteran of the music industry for over a decade. In Los Angeles\, she sold out legendary venues such as The Viper Room\, The Whisky a Go-Go\, and the Troubadour. Chelsee also worked in performance licensing for years\, utilizing her music business degree. In 2019\, she toured the Caribbean with Norwegian Cruise Lines’ highest-rated rock show: Syd Norman’s Pourhouse. Chelsee credits her experience as a competitive figure skater with giving her the strength and endurance necessary to put out a powerhouse performance every night. As fiery as her red hair\, Chelsee’s rock vibe stands out in Nashville’s music scene! \nDrawing influence from Lou Reed\, Pavement\, Talking Heads\, and The National\, The Finites started as a studio recording outlet of Nashville producer Allan Fine. Live\, the synths are stripped away and replaced with electric guitars for an all-out\, rock ‘n roll sound. Current members are Hyde Ennis (Lead Guitar)\, Chris Augustinos (Bass)\, and Griffin Schwab (Drums). \nGood News For Modern Man was started by 22-year-old songwriter/guitarist and Virginia native Jackson Shockley. The group consists of drummer Michael Schumacher and an ever-revolving cast of musicians. Moving to Nashville in early 2020\, Shockley spent the pandemic writing and recording for the project. Drawing from the classic\, jangle-pop sounds of the 60’s like The Beatles and The Byrds\, as well as indie 80’s acts like Hüsker Dü\, The Replacements\, and R.E.M.\, Good News For Modern Man effortlessly blends elements of sunshine pop and distorted rock with lyrics that reflect the mood and feeling of the times. Their newly released debut single\, “Everything Is Fine” is now streaming everywhere. \nTickets to this show are $10 at the door. You must be 21+ to enter.

SUMMARY:NashLive! x Music City Movement Present: Edgar Derby\, Aaron Friend & The Enemies\, and Leoncarlo at The Cobra Nashville
DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday\, September 27\, we’ll head back to The Cobra Nashville to bring you a diversified lineup featuring the talents of Nashville’s Aaron Friend & The Enemies\, in between touring artists Edgar Derby and Leoncarlo. \nEdgar Derby has been making music for over two decades. He was born and raised in El Paso\, Texas\, and is currently based in Denton\, Texas. Derby’s music fuses acoustic\, lyric-based folk with a unique songwriting style and energetic performances. He treats a live audience to a multi-instrumental show that includes vocals\, guitars\, a resonator\, and harmonicas. Edgar Derby’s sophomore LP\, Dancing in Death/The Place Where the River Makes a Sound\, was released February 13\, 2021. \nUrgent\, uplifting\, and wildly anthemic\, the music of Aaron Friend & The Enemies radiates a brilliant energy that boldly amplifies its emotional power. With captivating vocals and soul-baring lyrics\, Nashville-based singer\, songwriter\, and producer Aaron Friend created his latest body of work after a period of personal upheaval and self-discovery\, channeling his deepest pain and uncertainty into songs that question\, confront\, and endlessly illuminate. The result: an essential soundtrack to self-reflection\, raw catharsis\, and life-changing transformation. \nLeoncarlo is a musician\, violinist\, and educator based in North Texas. His career took shape while attending the University of North Texas for violin\, as Leoncarlo would begin to travel nationwide\, performing and speaking at reputable events such as SXSW Festival in Texas\, Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Colorado\, TEDx Conference in Fargo\, and more. He has had the honor of collaboration with esteemed musical acts like Polyphonic Spree\, Alejandro Escovedo\, and Melanie Safka\, to name a few. Off stage\, Leoncarlo offers various audio production work\, as well as music lessons at Soundbox MusicWorks (formerly known as Bonduris School of Music) in Denton\, TX. \nTickets for this show are just $10\, and you must be 21 or older to enter. SUMMARY:NashLive! Presents: Josh Del\, YEARLOVE\, and Nicole Boggs & The Reel at The Cobra Nashville
DESCRIPTION:We’re thrilled to be joining our friends at The Cobra Nashville on Thursday\, September 15 for a night of rock\, blues\, soul\, and a whole lot more. We’ll be graced by the talents of Josh Del\, YEARLOVE\, and Nicole Boggs & The Reel. \nTICKETS\nHailing from a small desert town in California\, later relocating to Nashville\, Tennessee\, Josh Del is no stranger to small town Americana. In 2019\, he wrote the anthem for When The Lights Went Down\, a documentary surrounding an iconic theater in Baytown\, Texas starring the late cowboy and Cocoon star\, Wilford Brimley. \nYEARLOVE is an alternative rock band residing in Nashville\, Tennessee. The band take cues from musicians all across the musical spectrum\, drawing influence from various genres such as rock\, pop\, alternative\, and jazz. YEARLOVE separates themselves from the indie scene by creating a modern\, yet nostalgic sound. \nRooted in three-part harmony and existential blues\, Nicole Boggs & The Reel inject rock & roll riffs and vindicated vocals into social commentary\, holding a mirror to the absurdity of modern life. Nicole Boggs (bass\, lead vox)\, Alex Kramer (guitars\, vox)\, and Sam Gyllenhaal (guitars\, vox) grew up in musical families and walked individual paths before coming together for their first official band release\, Scenes From Last Year\, in 2019. Dripping with razor-edged sarcasm\, their hard-hitting follow-up EP None of Your Business dropped in the summer of 2020\, in the depths of the first wave of COVID-19. Since then\, the group has been honing their collective sound behind the scenes\, quietly and diligently working on their upcoming release\, Dystopian Book Club\, set for release on August 1. \nIf that sounds like a good time to you\, join us at The Cobra Thursday\, September 15 starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10\, and you must be 21 or older to enter.

SUMMARY:NashLive! Presents: Greasediver\, The Mad Sugars\, and Forts Like Vana at The 5 Spot
DESCRIPTION:NashLive! will be back at The 5 Spot on Thursday\, July 21 — and it will be a rock and roll party! \nOut of the flooded\, beer can strewn basements Nashville stumbles Greasediver. Emmett Rozelle sings and plays most of the instruments on their 2021 album\, In the Wake of the Past\, but he couldn’t have done it without the help of his friends. His partners in crime include but are not limited to: Zach D’Amico (engineering\, production\, drums)\, Peter Piscitelli (bass guitar)\, and Ian Colt (artwork\, cover design\, and the latest in a long line of celebrated Trench Dwellers). \nThe Mad Sugars are the songwriting vehicle of Adam Lawrence\, combining the dance rock of Franz Ferdinand\, the garage punk of The Hives\, and the vocal harmonies and party vibes of The B-52s as a backdrop for stories of nightlife misadventures. Hailing originally from NJ\, and later NYC\, Adam then relocated from New York to Nashville in 2017 and re-formed the band\, releasing Reboot in October of 2021\, containing reimagined renditions of older songs for the new Nashville audience. In recent years\, Adam has placed his songs in TV shows such as The Crazy Ex-Girlfriend\, Chicago Fire\, and Search Party\, and is finishing work on the band’s first full length album\, to be released in the fall of 2022. \nForts Like Vana are known around town for their lively stage performances and raw\, yet polished sound. In fact\, they bring the fire every time they join us for a NashLive! show! \nTickets for this one are $10 at the door\, and you must be 21 or older to enter. The fun starts at 9 p.m.\, and we hope you’ll join us!

DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, June 19\, NashLive! will return to The East Room to present an eclectic lineup featuring Pepperwood\, Ali Aslam\, and Mary Jennings. \nPepperwood\, the brainchild of Nashville native songwriter Zach Wyatt\, has been described as many things — and most of them good. They have a hard time fitting into a specific sound\, as every band member listens to a wide range of genres with influences peppered throughout\, but they’ve been compared to Relient K\, Kings of Leon\, Colony House\, Temper Trap\, and others. You may also recall that they joined NashLive! in April at The Cobra alongside Nicole Boggs & The Reel\, and they tore it up! \nAli Aslam’s nuanced and expansive debut record\, The Last American\, easily holds seemingly conflicting but ultimately congruent perspectives in hand. One of the most optimistic\, yet daunting themes across the record lies in the idea that we are ultimately responsible for the world we create. Aslam’s songs let us know we’re doing okay\, but we can do better. “Is this what everybody’s dreaming?” he challenges us. Can we dream bigger\, more inclusively\, more expansively? \nWith a big voice and passionate\, honest words\, Mary Jennings is a fiery siren that packs a big punch with her small frame. Her highly personal and emotional singing style is raw and captivating. After years of touring and releasing music\, she has come home and carved out her space in the Nashville scene.

SUMMARY:NashLive! Presents: Borrowed Sparks and Uplander at The Cobra Nashville
DESCRIPTION:NashLive! will be back at The Cobra Nashville on Saturday\, May 21 with Borrowed Sparks and Uplander. \nWhat happens when you combine the raw heartfelt honesty of a singer-songwriter with the simmer angst of punk rock? You get Borrowed Sparks (Mike Bay)\, who has spent years drawing from these two contrasting styles to distill a batch of songs that feel like quiet confessions being shouted from the back of a dive bar. \nUplander\, formed by songwriter Riley Haynie\, pulls from shoegaze\, post-punk\, goth\, and new wave. The result?Atmospherically heavy songs that maintain an edge of pop sensibility and appeal. \nThe best part? This is another free one in The Cobra’s front room! Music kicks off at 7:30 p.m.\, and you must be 21 or older to enter!

SUMMARY:NashLive! Presents: Leah Jean and Sam Gyllenhaal Band at The Cobra Nashville
DESCRIPTION:On a regular day\, you can find Leah Jean penning a heartfelt lyric\, humming an infectious melody\, or letting her fingers find the guitar riff that will inspire a sumptuous song. Adorned with honest lyrics that hit close to home\, Leah Jean’s music resonates and stays with you far beyond the final note. Haunting vocals and harmonies soar over moody backdrops colored with undertones of bluesy jazz\, folk\, and soul.  Originally from Dayton\, Ohio\, Leah Jean brings a humble persona and fresh perspective to the Nashville music scene. \nSam Gyllenhaal Band’s pop\, rock\, and country influences inspire their songs’ cascading melodies\, driving grooves and vivid lyrics. The band likes to sing about life and love in motion — sometimes soaring\, sometimes stumbling\, but always moving forward. They’re releasing a new single every month in 2022 on all streaming platforms. Also\, a fun fact: Sam joined us last time at Cobra on April 14 as part of Nicole Boggs & The Reel! \nThis show\, just like that last one\, is free to attend. You just need to be 21 or older to enter. We’ll see you there\, and at some of NashLive!’s other upcoming shows.

SUMMARY:NashLive! Presents: Pepperwood and Nicole Boggs & The Reel at The Cobra Nashville
DESCRIPTION:NashLive! will make its long-awaited return to Cobra Nashville on Thursday\, April 14 by bringing a dose of rock to East Nashville. Joining this quest will be Pepperwood and Nicole Boggs & The Reel. Since then\,  the group has been honing their collective sound behind the scenes\, quietly and diligently working on their upcoming release\, Dystopian Book Club. Their latest single\, “Existential Blues\,” is streaming everywhere now. \nThis show is FREE to enter\, in The Cobra’s front room. You must be 21+.

SUMMARY:Sam Varga\, Alyssa Lazar\, and Borderline Natives at The East Room
DESCRIPTION:With just three short years in Nashville\, Sam Varga has already established himself as serious writer and dynamic performer. Coming up in the fast-paced punk scenes of his high school days and the blues of Austin\, Texas\, there is an edge and energy that makes his songs stand out in Music City. After quickly coming up through the writing ranks in Nashville\, Sam turned his attention to his solo career\, amassing more than a million streams on Spotify with 40\,000 monthly listeners\, and multiple viral videos with more than 100\,000 TikTok followers. Coming off of multiple viral releases\, his latest single “Fall Down” is a hint in a new direction\, and a nod to his pop/punk and emo roots. \nFueled by the sound and passion of classic rock and roll music\, Alyssa Lazar brings a 1970’s nostalgia to today’s pop/rock music. Lazar grew up in Scranton\, PA\, constantly surrounded by music\, and began singing at the age of three. Her transition from singer to musical artist began when she learned to play the piano at the age of eight. Following this\, she began to write songs\, compose\, and accompany herself for weekly performances at every venue throughout her hometown by the age of fifteen. After high school\, Alyssa moved to Nashville\, TN to continue pursuing her music career. Her love for piano\, mixed with her love for classic rock\, brought Alyssa’s music to a sound reminiscent of artists such as Elton John\, Lady Gaga\, Billy Joel\, and Queen. Lazar unapologetically brings out her fiery spirit and dauntless attitude within her theatrical\, rock and roll inspired sound. \nBorderline Natives have a streamlined alternative/pop punk sound that is being compared to Taking Back Sunday\, Neck Deep\, blink-182\, and State Champs. The band’s lyrical content relates to those who have ever felt lost\, those who have never belonged\, and anyone who has experienced heartbreak or a loss of unity. \n$10 | 18+ to enter | Must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a recent negative test to enter. \nTICKETS

SUMMARY:NashLive! Pop-Up: Borrowed Sparks and Riley Haynie
DESCRIPTION:We’ve always got new tricks up our sleeves at NashLive!. Next Saturday\, February 12\, we’re giving you a night of rock and roll on us. \nWe’re excited to team with The Cobra Nashville (2511 Gallatin Ave.) on our first ever free NashLive! Pop-Up. We’ll be in the venue’s front bar\, where we’ll bring you the musical stylings of Borrowed Sparks and Riley Haynie on the house. \nWe once described the music of Borrowed Sparks as “a prime cut of American rock and roll… calling to mind the maverick spirit of the legendary Tom Petty\, layered with a simmering angst sure to appeal to fans of artists ranging from Social Distortion to The Gaslight Anthem.” We certainly still feel that way\, and are excited to team up with Mike Bay and co. as they show you what they’ve been working on — including acoustic renditions of the band’s signature tracks\, which you can find over on Spotify as they’re released. \nMike brought his good friend Riley Haynie into the fold. The Montana native — who released his debut album\, Years\, in 2021 — brings hardcore and heavy metal roots to his brand of punk-infused rock and roll. He also just released a fun cover of Cher’s 1998 single\, “Believe\,” which you can find over here. \nThis is usually where we tell you about ticket price information\, but again\, this show is free! Come to Cobra Nashville at 8 p.m. with a valid photo ID (21+)\, and come hang with the NashLive! community.

SUMMARY:NashLive! Presents: Krantz\, YEARLOVE\, and Forts Like Vana at The High Watt

We will be re-joined on that night by prior NashLive! performers Krantz and Forts Like Vana\, while welcoming eclectic alt-rockers YEARLOVE into the fold. \nKrantz can best be described as “rock ‘n roll in color from Music City\, USA.” You may remember that Krantz joined us smack in the middle of a fun rock lineup at Cobra back in October. This time\, we’ll welcome locals Sly Boy\, The Sewing Club\, and SHELBYY\, who will be joined all the way from Cincinnati by internationally-known punks Tiger Sex\, whom we had the pleasure of meeting right here in Nashville a couple years back. \nSly Boy is a dark alternative outfit based in Nashville\, TN. After producing records for several Nashville area artists\, Sly Boy released his self-produced\, genre-fluid LP “Jibō Complex” in May of 2021. His live performances feature a mixture of rock\, noisewave\, and pop macabre. \nThe Sewing Club is a Nashville Rock band that formed in 2019. SUMMARY:Red Bull SoundClash: Bren Joy vs. Jake Wesley Rogers
DESCRIPTION:Red Bull SoundClash enables artists to push their musical boundaries through exploring music styles\, battling repertoires\, and artist collaborations\, while empowering the audience to become more than spectators to decide the winner. Inspired by the culture of competing sound systems originating in Kingston\, Jamaica\, Red Bull SoundClash is set over multiple rounds as bands and artists musically duke it out\, with the recipient of the biggest crowd reaction (captured on a decibel meter) to be crowned champion. While these artists may be competing against each other at every turn\, SoundClash is ultimately a celebration of the power of live music\, collaboration\, and creative empowerment. \nNashville gets ready for Red Bull SoundClash as Nashville native Bren Joy brings the rhythm against glam pop star Jake Wesley Rogers\, as they go song-for-song in the ultimate face-off at Marathon Music Works. \nHosted by Noelle Scaggs (Fitz & The Tantrums) + DJ Jerry J (Old Crow Medicine Show) as the House DJ \nEntrance to this event will require proof of one of the below items: \n\nA full course of COVID-19 vaccination\, with their final dose at least fourteen days prior to the show. SUMMARY:NashLive! Presents: Quinn O'Donnell\, Tess\, and Spirits Republic
DESCRIPTION:Here’s something we already know about Thursday\, November 18: it’s going to rock\, and rock hard. \nHow do we know? Because that’s when we’ll be at The Cobra Nashville (2511 Gallatin Ave.) with a rock and roll lineup featuring Quinn O’Donnell\, Vera Bloom\, and Spirits Republic. \nQuinn O’Donnell is known across Nashville for her raw and emotional performances. Her unique blend of alternative rock paired with atmospheric songwriting gives her a unique\, yet timeless sound. Taking inspiration from artists like Death Cab For Cutie and Radiohead\, O’Donnell takes root in the early 2000’s and late 90’s. Through her touring and local DIY shows\, Quinn and her band full of friends have made their mark in venues across the Nashville area and beyond. \nFor alternative rock artist Tess\, songs are born from moments — angry\, filled with confusion\, or laced with hope. The songwriter unveils those experiences with her piano centric style\, fusing modern pop and classic rock.
For many years Tess supported other acts on keys\, BGVs\, and as a music journalist. Now she allows her music to rise to the front\, giving ear to her creativity inspired by powerful artists like Fiona Apple\, Ben Folds and Elton John. In 2020 Tess released her debut single\, “Good For Nobody\,” introducing her sound and perspective as a songwriter. The indie pop anthem was followed by a closer lean into her rock influences with “Fade Away (To Gray)\,” featuring upbeat piano and sliding guitar. Working with producer Parke Cottrell of Colony House\, the artist recorded her debut EP\, set to release the forthcoming summer. The songwriter shares how she wrestles with anxiety\, her inner-critic\, and learns to find purpose in the middle of it all. \nGroovy. Heavy. Psychedelic. These are three words that have been used time and time again to describe Nashville based alternative/experimental rock band\, Spirits Republic. The band is known to deliver a fun\, fresh slice of progressive alt-rock and has been cited as being\, “dynamic\,” “unapologetic\,” and “like Led Zeppelin mixed with The Smashing Pumpkins\, with a hint of early Red Hot Chili Peppers and Primus.”

DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday\, August 18\, we’ll welcome Dan Fuson\, New Suede\, A Tribe of Horsman\, and Down Boy into the heart of East Nashville. \nIt’s been a big year for Dan Fuson. Not only did he absolutely slay a Live from the 615 virtual performance earlier this spring\, but before that\, he released an EP\, Young + Improving\, which pushed musical boundaries and cemented him as one of the most versatile pop rock artists in all of Nashville. \nNew Suede consists of Chandler Mills Brown\, Elijah Perron\, Alex Ramsay\, and Matt MacPhail. The Murfreesboro-based rock and roll band are veterans of the Nashville rock scene\, and have had a nice amount of streaming success — their single\, “Taxi\,” has accrued more than 20\,000 Spotify streams to date. \nA Tribe of Horsman recently participated in a spirited edition of UMC Fun -N- Games. Fronted by Dhalton Horsman\, the trio also features Sean van Rossum (bass) and Aaron Hopkins (drums). Together\, they’re working on their debut record\, which we might hear a bit of riiiiight around the time of this show. \nAnd then\, there’s Down Boy. They’re also Fun -N- Games alums\, and they just released a sick new video for their song\, “Traction\,” which has already amassed more than 1\,000 views. To top it off\, they’re one of the tightest trios you’ll ever hear play live. Prepare to be amazed!

SUMMARY:Live from the 615 Presents: Timothy Myles\, Natasha Blaine\, and SHELBYY
DESCRIPTION:We’ll be returning to The East Room (2412 Gallatin Ave.\, Nashville) on Thursday\, July 29 with a fun bill offering many different shades of pop. Joining us to complete this endeavor are the super talents of Nashville locals Timothy Myles\, Natasha Blaine\, and SHELBYY \nA Chicagoland native\, Timothy Myles kicked off the ticketed era of Live from the 615 shows\, back when our world was entirely virtual. His EP\, Songs of Hope from Sorrow\, was recorded live at Battery Lane Music in East Nashville\, and released in full this spring. An engaging performer and songsmith\, Myles’ performance will serve as a warm welcome to The East Room! \nSpeaking of that show back in March\, Natasha Blaine also crushed it that night. Since then\, she’s released her new EP\, titled I Fall in Love Too Easily\, which has only helped her brand of jazz-pop catch fire here in Nashville — and everywhere else! \nSHELBYY is a modern pop-punk/rock artists from Los Angeles\, currently residing in Nashville. Her new single\, “LOUD\,” is the quintessential post-COVID anthem\, and a sign of the fun\, edgy material she has coming down the pipeline. She’ll surely bring that same energy to the table when she joins us in East Nashville!
