What is UMC?
The entire point of an Underground movement… is for its members to rise up!
Underground Music Collective is a Nashville-based educational and multimedia platform, designed to give artists the resources they need to build sustainable, values-based creative ecosystems. Since its initial launch with The Quinn Spinn podcast in 2013, UMC has evolved and expanded to serve thousands of musicians, creatives, and industry stakeholders through multimedia content; live music, educational, and networking experiences; the UMC Academy artist mentorship program; and the UMC UnderDogs digital community.
Through the years, UMC has collaborated with local, national, and global brands, including Universal Music Group, Red Bull, the Tennessee Titans, the Nashville Predators, Creative Artists Agency, Guidance Whiskey, Liberty Tax, ArtsQuest, and Redfin Real Estate. Our work has been featured by major media companies including iHeartRadio, YouTube, MusicRow Magazine, and many more.
Through the UMC Academy, we have educated and mentored independent creatives at some of the world’s premier music industry events. Previous engagements include SXSW (Austin, TX), Departure Conference & Festival (Toronto, ON), NOLA MusiCon (New Orleans, LA), Confluence Carolinas (Charlotte, NC), Musikfest (Bethlehem, PA), Gussapolooza (Cookstown, ON), West Chester University (West Chester, PA), and more.

The Quinn Spinn
The Quinn Spinn is not only the Official Podcast of Underground Music Collective — it is the origin point of the entire UMC ecosystem!
Launched as a passion project in August 2013, The Quinn Spinn tells the stories of those daring enough to create, through conversations with musicians, creative entrepreneurs, and real humans who aspire to have a positive impact. The Quinn Spinn tells these stories in a variety of formats, including:
- One-on-one interviews, featuring inspiring guests from all over the world — including rising musicians, top business leaders, and more.
- Solo Missions, featuring lessons learned on the creative journey by UMC Founder Gerard Longo (a.k.a.: “The Quinn”).
- “OG Family” episodes, featuring cultural discussions alongside co-hosts and special guests from points along the show’s storied history.
