Duke Maroon Brings it Back with ‘Heart Attack’

The year was 2016. UMC was still wet behind the ears as a regional blog in eastern Pennsylvania known as Lehigh Valley Underground. Nashville was not yet a twinkle in our eyes. In fact, this whole experiment was still in its, well… experimental stages. Frankly, we had no idea that we’d still be here!

A young man named Doug Keller was writing for us back then, and he told us about a Philly-area band called Duke Maroon, whose single, “Heart Attack,” was featured on WXPN’s The Key as an NPR Tiny Desk submission.

Much has changed since then. We moved to Nashville. Duke Maroon took a hiatus that spanned several years. And now, with Keller in the band, they’ve decided that they’re bringin’ it back.

Hear ‘Heart Attack’ as You Never Have Before

Duke Maroon Featured on WXPN’s ‘The Key’

NPR stations all over the country have given independent artists the opportunity to showcase their intimate live performance with the “Tiny Desk” series. Quite literally, these artists play an original tune inside of small room in their homes to show their stuff. It’s a cool concept, and a great opportunity for exposure that fits the budgets of many “starving artists” out there.

Duke Maroon, our dear friends from the Philly area, entered this contest and are now featured on WXPN’s The Key for their effort. We just wanted to take a quick moment to congratulate the guys on their accomplishment.

You can view Duke Maroon’s submission, where they play their song “Heart Attack,” below.
