LISTEN: Jasce Bridges Genre Gaps on ‘Ecstasy’

Always down to experiment, Jasce is taking bass music where it has never gone before.

The Philadelphia-based indietronica producer recently released “Ecstasy,” a simmering track combining the lush sound design of electronica and dubstep with colorful melodies and harmonies, which are inspired by her classical training.

“Indie bass. Is that a genre? This song is heavily influenced by acoustic, classical, dubstep, and drum and bass,” Jasce said. “This song is something new; my roots as a violinist make it easy to add harmony and melody into my bass tracks. It carries energy from the beginning to the end, and never drops it.”

“Ecstasy” is an opportunity for electronic music producers to observe a different approach, pushing the genre’s limits and introducing new ideas into its ecosystem.

“My intention is to combine melody and harmony into bass music, where it is not often found, and (for those elements) to become part of bass music culture,” Jasce said.
