Local Filmmakers Launch Kickstarter to Complete ‘Make Art Local’ Documentary
Riverside Films is nearing completion of “Make Art Local,” a Bethlehem-centric documentary “that celebrates and investigates the history and future of grassroots arts in Bethlehem.”
Now, they need your help to finish the project.
The production company has launched an all-or-nothing Kickstarter campaign to complete”Make Art Local,” described as the story of “a steel town turned arts town.” The intent is to then use this story as an example of the potential impact a vibrant arts scene can have on a region.
The official campaign page notes that, with support from Lehigh University’s Mellon Digital Humanities Initiative, production staff has already conducted 25, 2-hour interviews with individuals from across our arts community, including names like Dave Fry of Godfrey Daniels, Lisa Jordan of Touchstone Theatre, and Matt Molchany and Shamus McGroggan of Tape Swap Radio. Additional funding is needed to complete the film’s production, post-production, and release.
As of this writing, a total of 35 community members have already donated to the project, combining to raise $3,575, which amounts to more than a third of Riverside Films’ $9,670 goal with 21 days to go. Those interested in supporting “Make Art Local” are encouraged to donate and share the campaign with their circles.

Thanks for lending your support for this project. Having a great art and music scene in the Lehigh Valley is because people like you step up and work for it!
