Review: Statues and Stories Provides First Taste of ‘Sink’

Singer-songwriter Malachi McNeill is preparing to release his latest album, “Sink,” next month under his project Statues and Stories.

Now, we have our first, emotionally compelling taste of the new record.

The downtempo “I Won’t Tell Them What You Did,” produced at City View Sound in Nazareth, starts off with a gentle, sleepy acoustic guitar strum and a tender, melancholy vocal from McNeill. Somber horn accents are then added to the mix, helping the tension build into a wall of sound that hits its apex just before the 2:20 mark.
