Ralph’s Reviews: R.D. King Creates Fingertip Magic

I spend a fair amount of time listening to music. Regardless of style or genre, it takes talent to create your own music. It also takes courage, determination, and a belief in yourself to share it with the rest of the world. It takes a special kind of talent to draw you in with just the music. No catchy, deep, bare-your-soul lyrics. No political statements. No “love gone wrong” tales. Just music.

Boston, MA based songwriter R.D. King has done that with his newly-released, self-titled album. In his unique acoustic guitar style, King tells a story with his fingers like very few can. Each song is different in its own way, delivering a sense of the talent behind the music. This is especially evident in “Rain and Ash,” an upbeat, rhythmic tune that is one of the many highlights on this full-length, 12-track album.
