Ralph’s Reviews: Anna Rose Reveals Gentler Side on ‘Nobody Knows I’m Here’

New York-based Anna Rose combines a powerful voice and a rock and roll attitude on stage. Her live performances call to mind the likes of Joan Jett, Pat Benatar, or Janis Joplin, and her stage presence screams of an independent woman who is going to play hard, sing hard, and rock hard.

When I first set out to watch the newly-released video for her single, “Nobody Knows I’m Here,” I fully expected more of the same. What I got was a softer, gentler side to Anna Rose that simply blew me away. The song — which you may have recently heard on NBC’s “This Is Us” — touches on getting away and hiding from the dark places we find ourselves from time to time. The opening lines, “Showed up at 3 a.m., nobody knows I’m here. Couldn’t handle where I’ve been, so nobody knows I’m here.” set the tone, and Anna’s soft melody and sweet harmonies bring this song to life.

I will readily admit that I love all of Anna Rose’s music and, certainly, her hard rock and roll style. However, this may be my favorite song of her’s, and it’s a total deviation from the Anna Rose I’ve been used to hearing.

Do yourself a favor: take a few minutes to enjoy this video and share with as many people as you can. Then, scroll below the video below for the rest of Anna’s music, which lives on Spotify for your enjoyment.
