UMC20: April Showers Us with Fresh Jams (Apr. 5, 2022)

We’ve been waiting patiently over the past couple weeks to bring you some of this fire.

OK… so, you may have heard some of these tunes before (especially if you’ve been paying attention to the past couple editions of Songs You Should Hear). Nonetheless, there’s still plenty of reason to be excited, because you get to connect (or reconnect) with some incredible artists on this week’s UMC20.

A couple of songs are even making return appearances here, simply because we felt they were worth another spin or two. Whether it’s for the first time or the 100th, you’ll like what you have to spin below!

Songs You Should Hear: Self-Love, Relationships, and Sellin’ Out

Jenna’s taking the reigns on this week’s Songs You Should Hear once again, and it’s another exciting volume full of bops.

As the headline suggests, there’s plenty of love to go around here (whether from another, or from oneself). There’s also a lament snuck in about the lack of community… but at least we’re able to muse over it while having fun!

UMC20: The Best of March 2022

Can you believe that we’re already at the quarter pole of 2022?

It’s hard to believe that New Year’s Day is already three months behind us. Much has happened in the world since then, as it has in music.

We have a month’s worth of those musical happenings right here, rolled into a compilation that paints a beautiful picture of this wild and wonderful month. Get your fix of the Best of March below!

UMC20: Catching Up! (Mar. 22, 2022)

Things got a little busy around these parts last week, which is why we weren’t quite able to get you a fresh, hot batch of fire back on the 15th.

With that said, we think what we have for you on this week’s all-new UMC20 is worth the wait! We start off by rocking your world, before things get a bit more tender in the middle. Then, we have some pop anthems on tap before things get suuuuper experimental toward the end.

Ready to dive in? Same here. Let’s go!

LISTEN: The Break Plans Are ‘Fashionably Late’ with Anthemic New Single

It had been a minute since we heard from Freehold, NJ’s The Break Plans. The alt-pop outfit spent the better part of COVID-19 lockdowns writing and recording, preparing a new EP that we are all sure to enjoy this year.

The first single is here, and it begs the question: why be anybody else, when you can just be yourself?

UMC20: What’s Up with Spotify? (Mar. 8, 2022)

First, a PSA: if you released music to Spotify within the past week, check to see if it’s online. There were some tracks we planned to include on this week’s UMC20 that, for some reason, have gone dark over there.

Anyway, the good news is that there’s always plenty of fire in the music ecosystem to fill out a UMC20. We found plenty of it in the submission form and numerous inboxes, and we’re excited to present it to you today. Let’s go!

If you like alternative — whether that’s rock or pop — get in here.

That’s the flavor of a lot of our recent submissions, so we’re going to give these tunes some shine! We also found a few out in the world that we’re digging, so we threw those into the mix, too.

It’s all here, and it’s all for you. Enjoy!

UMC20: The Best Way to Begin February (Feb. 1, 2022)

January may have felt like it took forever. At least, that’s the sentiment among a lot of the folks in our circle.

The good news? It’s over now, and we’re on to February, which is 1) the shortest month on the calendar and 2) the last full month of winter. We can already feel life returning to the Earth and musical landscape here in Nashville. We can’t wait to see and hear what happens when 2022 truly kicks into high gear.

So, let’s kick it up a notch. We had some new submissions to consider, and we’re using some real estate here to shine a light on this month’s upcoming NashLive! shows. Through it all, we’ve certainly got some fresh finds, and they’re here for you below!
