Review: D.S. Bradford – Elemental Evolution

If you’re in the Philadelphia area, catch D.S. Bradford’s “Elemental Evolution” EP release show this Friday, Aug. 5 at the Dockside Bar at Dave & Buster’s.

Artist: D.S. Bradford
Album: Elemental Evolution EP (PRE-ORDER)
Release Date: Aug. 5, 2016
Genre: Alternative Rock

Philadelphia singer-songwriter D.S. Bradford describes his new “Elemental Evolution” EP as being “about evolving into a form of ourselves that is conscious of peace and embraces love.”

While that theme is ever present throughout the effort, there is another “evolution” at play – that of D.S. Bradford into a versatile musician who seamlessly intermingles alternative rock with the progressive and psychedelic.

Perhaps the track that best blends all of those styles together is the album closer, “A Call to the Stars II – A Home in the Sky.” The EP’s longest track, clocking in at just over seven minutes, is a dreamy epic that moves between ideas that represent themselves as movements. “A Call to the Stars II” temporarily forfeits its dreaminess about halfway through, picking up the pace with some killer guitar work, before returning to its roots and transitioning into a tender piano outro that brings about the conclusion of our galactic transmission.

For fans of straightforward alt-rock, you need look no further than “Oceans,” a fun, up-tempo tune, and the crisp, highly accessible title track, “Elemental Evolution.” Both songs contain great hooks and are radio-ready.

Two Good Friends of the Show for the Price of One?

How’s this for a small world?

On February 15, we hosted South Jersey’s Marc Ambrosia on an edition of The Quinn Spinn. Just three days later on February 18, Philly-area artist D.S. Bradford joined us for QSLehighValley.

Two artists, from the same area, appearing on (essentially) the same series on back-to-back episodes.

Now, it appears as if Marc and David have something else in common: Both will be playing on the Mantis Music Showcase at the Trocadero Theatre, 1003 Arch St. in Philadelphia, on Thursday, March 31. D.S. Bradford just announced that he has been added to the bill, while Marc Ambrosia had previously revealed that he and his band would be there. The two will also be joined that night by the Ashton John Band, Carly and Me, and Andrew Moorer.

Tickets to the showcase are $12 ($15 at the door) and can be found here. If you can find yourself in Philly that night, do yourself a favor by checking out two great friends of Lehigh Valley Underground and The Quinn Spinn!

D.S. Bradford Launches Pre-Order For ‘Elemental Evolution’ EP

March is coming in like a lion for rock artist D.S. Bradford as he launches his PledgeMusic Preorder campaign for his brand new “Elemental Evolution” EP release.

In January, Bradford released the title track from the upcoming five-track collection, a rousing rock song which is a story in and of itself. Fueled by the positive vibes and catchy songwriting, the media got behind the single, which has garnered positive reviews from critics and fans alike.

Recently, Bradford joined us on QSLehighValley where he revealed that the music for the EP is finished and that vocal tracking is next in the production phase. With finished artwork and two singles ahead of the forthcoming release, Bradford is looking to continue making a great impression with existing fans and new supporters.

D.S. Bradford is offering plenty of exciting exclusives to pledgers through his partnership with PledgeMusic that are accessible here, as well as insider updates along the way.

“This project means everything to me and I want to share it with all of you and have everyone be a part of this release. “Elemental Evolution” is about all of us, our future, and the things that are important to us in our lives,” Bradford said. “Your involvement with this project will not only give you one-of-a-kind items like artwork and CDs; it also is the epitome of what this EP is about: the message that we, in this world, can come together, be a part of something, and succeed.”

Pledgers and fans will join Bradford in achieving his goals during the recording process, to the mixing and mastering by Applehead Studios (Coheed and Cambria), up to the release of “Elemental Evolution” on CD and digital formats.

Join the “Elemental Evolution” on PledgeMusic, and check in with D.S. Bradford on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and the web for updates.

D.S. Bradford: More Than a Rock Star

Tomorrow on QSLehighValley sponsored by The Valley Ledger, you’ll hear from Philly-based artist David “D.S.” Bradford. David joins us to talk about all of his projects, including his upcoming album, “Elemental Evolution” (You’ll hear a couple tracks on the show, naturally).

David has a lot more going on, though. Not only does he have a background in visual art, but he is a versatile musician that can stretch far beyond the rock sphere. For example, there’s this:

That’s a video game soundtrack for an upcoming MMORPG, “Saga of Lucimia,” from Stormhaven Studios. We post this not necessarily to preview tomorrow’s show, as it’s quite different from what you’ll hear. Rather, we bring this to your attention to provide a glimpse at just how talented an artist David is.
