All-Americana: November 2024

We’re one playlist in, and already, we can tell this is going to be a blast!

Let’s kick things off with All-Americana. Straight from the heartland, this playlist features the best emerging country, roots, blues, folk, and bluegrass, and will be updated reliably on the first Monday of every month going forward.

As it turns out, Americana itself paints from a vast and varied sonic palette. You’ll hear anything here from radio-ready country, to ambient folk, to stomp-along roots music — and there’s even more where that came from, including even a little bit of folk-punk!

Start The Playlists’ party with us, and stick around all week long for the rest of the musical spectrum!

UMC20: Bringin’ the Energy (Jan. 23, 2024)

Maybe it’s the New Year’s optimism that’s lingering late into January. Or, maybe it’s the fact that we’re excited to have escaped our ice fortresses after last week’s winter storm extraordinaire in Nashville. Either way, there’s a buzz in the air.

That buzz has its sonic representation on this week’s playlist. Many of the tracks here are on the high-energy side of the spectrum, keeping your blood pumping through any weather.

Bonus track: Our pal Ty Warner moved into a five-way tie for second place all-time for Quinn Spinn appearances, and we invite you to dig into that episode as an extra treat at the end.

UMC20: Let’s Diversify (Jan. 9, 2024)

This week, we bring you everything from dance music to study music, hip hop to folk, and just about anything else you could possibly need. The best part? All we had to do was run through the music that you, People of the Underground, submitted for consideration to compile this all-star list.

Also, check out this week’s bonus track: the first Quinn Spinn Solo Mission of 2024, where we touch on how to turn a viral moment into something more.

UMC20: The Best of June 2023

With respect to every month that has taken place since we became UMC (and subsequently started the UMC20 playlist)… this might have been the most solid month of submissions yet.

That also means we had a devil of a time narrowing this down to just 20 tracks. True to the start of summer, there was an abundance of heat thrown our way this month. Decisions were made, but y’all didn’t make ’em easy!

We think these 20 tracks do a nice job of representing June 2023. Check ’em out!
