Saying we’re excited about this week’s UMC20 playlist isn’t anything new. We’re excited about every offering of fresh, hot fire we drop on you every Tuesday.
Nonetheless, this one has some particularly special moments.
Let us start by saying that, for obvious reasons, our focus is on the first-ever Underground Writers Round, taking place this Friday, September 27 at Nashville’s historic Douglas Corner Cafe beginning at 9 p.m.
Word to the wise, before you listen to Talia Stewart’s new album, Confessional: get ready to feel strong emotions. Between the topics explored via Stewart’s jazzy, sultry alto and the album’s hard-hitting and robust soundscapes, you’ll come out having experienced a no-holds-barred exploration of human expression.
Vacation was fun, and we do have a pile of emails to dig through upon our return. Not to mention, we have some other features and reviews hanging out there that we plan to get to this week.
In the meantime — and before we completely, willingly say goodbye to summer — we want to re-visit August one last time with some of the most popular tracks that comprised our UMC20 playlists throughout the month. Give yourself a listen to these while we take a chance to catch up!

On Saturday night, the party was on at Nashville’s EXIT/IN.
The occasion? The Hip Abduction was in town, making a stop on their tour to celebrate their fourth full-length independent release, To the Ends of the Earth.
It’s probably a good time to mention that we’re going to be on vacation next week. So, aside from this being the last new UMC20 playlist of the month, it’s the last update period until September. We’ll hit you with the best of August when we get back the day after Labor Day.
(Don’t worry, though. We’re cooking up some fun for you while we’re gone. More on that later in the week!)
