Pool Radio Makes a Dreamy Splash with ‘Pool II’

Artist: Pool Radio
Album: Pool II
Released: Aug. 25, 2017
Genre: Synth Pop

Philly-based synth pop trio Pool Radio will be supporting 2017 ArtsQuest Artist in Residence CERAMIC ANIMAL on Thursday, November 9 inside of the Fowler Blast Furnace Room at SteelStacks. While there, they’ll be supporting their recent release “Pool II,” a dreamy, nu-gaze collection with a presence of vintage influences.

Album highlights include “Dissolve,” an electro-pop tune with vocal harmonies that seem to take influence from early 90s R&B. The band follows that immediately with “Voices,” which features a heavier 80s new wave influence and dynamic vocal production that helps the tune’s call-and-answer refrain blend into the track.

Those looking for a big, bright guitar hook will want to check out “Surface Tension,” which has lead single capability while still maintaining a consistent feel with the rest of the album, while “Generic Love” has some definitive funk tendencies to make it the most danceable track on “Pool II.”
