Cubbage is back with “Fear (Of Falling in Love),” a new single that is perhaps the strongest example of the pop-soul band’s ability to seamlessly blend its influences into a sound uniquely its own.
The first thing a listener may notice about “Fear (Of Falling in Love)” is its infectious melody, sung by frontman Anthony Cubbage in perhaps his most mature effort as a vocalist to date. Rhythmically, elements of funk and jazz keep the tune moving, while its guitar tones are nicely balanced between blues and alternative rock. Those with attentive ears will also notice atmospheric hints of the band’s alt-pop leanings, which give supporting depth and polish to the finished product.
