Kelly’s new single, “Running Out,” searches desperately for the return of a love that left long ago. Soft, intricate guitar picking gives the track its tender feel, and works in tandem with a string section to build an emotional groundswell. Meanwhile, Kelly’s soul-bearing lyrics and vulnerable tone make it so we can’t help but to feel the singer’s anguish.
