Stacey Kelleher Laments Love’s Poor Timing on ‘Thing of the Past’
It’s fall, which means it’s the perfect time of year for deep ballads about lost loves!
Stacey Kelleher has cooked up one of those with the wistful indie pop track, “Thing of the Past.” Written remotely during quarantine alongside Los Angeles-based songwriter John Conlin, the tune features clean guitar riffs and cool, atmospheric keys underneath a story of fleeting romance.
“This song is for anyone who’s met the perfect person at the most imperfect time,” Kelleher said. “It tells a story of reconnecting with someone that you’ve always loved even though the timing was never right.”
As we enter this more reflective time of year, “Thing of the Past” causes us to pause and appreciate the ones we’ve loved — even when that love was never built to last.
“The message of the song is to cherish the time that you have with someone, no matter how long or short it may be,” Kelleher said.
