LISTEN: Moonroof Reflects on Lost Love with ‘I’d Rather Be Alone’

Today, Moonroof gave us their first new release of the New Year.

The Philly-based indie pop trio — who, in between releases, have spent the past year performing at festivals, and even shared the stage with Chelsea Cutler — have released “I’d Rather Be Alone,” a wistful new tune about falling short in love.

Over a shimmering, 80s-inspired pop dreamscape, vocalist Dave Kim expresses the anguish that comes with realizing one’s shortcomings at the end of a relationship. Each lyric paints a portrait of two wayward partners who grew apart, with Kim’s protagonist playing the role of the one left behind. From there, he’s left to do some soul-searching, as he struggles to let go of what was.

“I’d Rather Be Alone” is the latest step in Moonroof’s exciting, homegrown journey. We can’t wait to see where it leads next!
