A cool and rainy night was no match for us, as we prepared to head down to SteelStacks to catch a hotly-anticipated night of indie pop from Ceramic Animal and special guests, Pool Radio.
My car battery, on the other hand, was almost just enough to stop the party for LVU before it started.

We are buzzing from the amazing response so far to this morning’s announcement of the Lehigh Valley Underground 2nd Birthday Spectacular, taking place at SteelStacks on Friday, January 19. In case you missed that one, here it is.
We admit, it’s hard not to get ahead of ourselves with all of that excitement, but let’s not forget that we all have quite a week ahead of us, here and now in November. It’s highlighted by these…
Since January 2016, Lehigh Valley Underground has been proud to serve the local music scene in eastern Pennsylvania, western New Jersey, and beyond. We’ll be turning 2 this January, and we want to do something special to celebrate how far we’ve all come together as a community.
Philadelphia-based psych rock favorite and ArtsQuest “Artist in Residence”, CERAMIC ANIMAL is headlining the Fowler Blast Furnace Room at SteelStacks on Thursday, November 9.
The band’s previous appearances in the Lehigh Valley include Musikfest performances in 2015, 2016, and 2017, along with an opening slot ahead of Father John Misty’s 2017 Bethlehem debut, Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks, South Side Arts & Music Festival, and an opening slot for Jukebox the Ghost.
There is still much buzz about their debut full-length, The Cart, attaining more than 37,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and more than 1.4 million streams across various platforms. The retro-fitted, psych-pop four-piece is continuing to hone their craft and wow live audiences while working on their sophomore album.
The band has captured audiences around the globe; their tune “Dreams Via Memories” has received much attention specifically, with more than 221,000 views on YouTube and upwards of 525,000 streams on Spotify. Watch it below.
CERAMIC ANIMAL will be joined on the bill by Lehigh Valley locals, Pool Radio. Doors open at 7 p.m. for a start time of 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. For more information, head to SteelStacks.org.
fter joining our community partners Fig Bethlehem at Zoellner Arts Center to celebrate the launch of their Fall 2017 issue, and after dinner and a quick change at home, it was getting close to time for the age-old tradition of SteelStacks Open Mic, hosted by Billy Bauer.
On Saturday night, the excitement of those inside of a packed Musikfest Cafe was unmistakable, as the sold-out crowd came through to hear Billy Bauer Band pay tribute to one of its biggest influences — and one of the most successful touring artists of all time — Dave Matthews Band.
In my first venture back out onto the scene since Sunday’s Musikfest finale, I found myself back on familiar ground, as I headed down to SteelStacks for Billy Bauer’s weekly open mic on Thursday night.
Let me tell you about my night last night, and you’ll understand why I wake up this morning with a great sense of appreciation for this music community.
