The Playlists Release Week: What You Need to Know

This Monday, we’ll begin to roll out The Playlists, a series of UMC-curated compilations on Spotify. The Playlists will feature independent artists across a variety of genre subsets, and we’ve even recently added a sixth one, in collaboration with our friends at Circle Back Entertainment Group!

Below, you’ll find information about each playlist’s release date. Please note that these playlists will be updated on a monthly basis, in the order in which they were originally released.

(For example, our All-Americana playlist is coming your way on Monday, November 4, and will be updated on the first Monday of every month going forward.)

Anyway, here’s the full release schedule:

Monday, 11/4: All-Americana: Straight from the heartland, this playlist features the best emerging country, roots, blues, folk, and bluegrass
Tuesday, 11/5: Beats and Verses: Our best discoveries from the world of hip hop and R&B.
Wednesday, 11/6: Rock On: A compilation for all things rock & roll — indie, alternative, hard rock, and more!
Thursday, 11/7: From the Soul: Soul, funk, jazz, and R&B to make us sing, dance, and feel all the feelings.
Friday, 11/8: Poppin’ Off: Fresh pop finds, full of big sounds and even bigger hooks.
Saturday, 11/9: Indie Darlings: Selections that are so eclectic, experimental, and quirky that they don’t quite fit anywhere else!

There’s still time to submit, for these and future editions of The Playlists. Click the button to show us what you’ve got!

UMC20: It’s a New Year, Yes It Is! (Jan. 3, 2023)

Welcome to 2023! We’re glad you’re here.

We’re also glad to see that the independent artists of Earth have been busy, even through the holidays, by sending us loads of new music to greet us upon our return to Nashville. We start 2023 the same way we’ve persisted in prior years; by having no shortage of musical flavors to present to you all.

We’ll be here with a fresh compilation every Tuesday. Here’s the first of many!

UMC20: Back from the Beach (Sept. 6, 2022)

Summer is unofficially over, and that means it’s time to get down to brass tacks by delivering you some fresh, recently-submitted HEAT.

OK, so maybe one of these songs wasn’t submitted, and is included here simply because I’m vibing on it, post-sabbatical. Which one? Well, here’s a hint: it’s from Dirty Heads’ new album, Midnight Control, which released on August 26 and, personally speaking, is already one of my favorite albums of all time. Sometimes, a new record just hits the spot.

After that, though? You’ll enjoy a multitude of multi-genre flavors straight from our submission form. Hope you’re ready!

UMC20: New Faces Week (June 14, 2022)

OK, so there are some familiar faces on this week’s UMC20… but for the most part, we have artists making their debuts on our weekly playlist.

This one’s also a rock fan’s dream — we’ve got all kinds of rock and roll and Americana flavors on this week’s edition, before things take a poppier turn later in the playlist. And, as is always the case, there are 20 good reasons to dig in!

Oh, and we’ve included a couple tracks in honor of our friends at On the Guest List…, who just welcomed The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney onto their podcast. Check it out here!

UMC20: Packed with Girl Power (June 7, 2022)

In honor of tonight’s very special, very important Safe Haven Family Shelter benefit at LTH Coffee & Social (7113 Charlotte Ave., 6-9 p.m.), we’ve loaded this week’s UMC20 with female-fronted acts!

Not only have we included all eight of tonight’s performers but, of the 20 tracks on this week’s compilation,15 were released by women. That’s a whopping 75 percent of this week’s playlist! Girl power, indeed.

What more do we need to say? Let’s get into it!

UMC20: Preview ‘A Night of Nashville Hip Hop’ + More (May 24, 2022)

First thing’s first: we’re going to need you to come to The Cobra Nashville this Friday for A Night of Nashville Hip Hop II. You can get tickets here as long as you’re 21 or older.

This week’s UMC20 spotlights the artists joining us this Friday night in East Nashville. They lead us off, and there’s plenty more fun where that came from. There’s a splash of pop, a whole lot of rock, and even a little Americana in there for your tastes.

Let’s go!
