UMC20: June 3, 2020

Our goal with this week’s UMC20 playlist — and really, any UMC20 playlist — is to present music from artists of all genres and perspectives. The common thread is that we, as human beings, are all unified in our creative passions, storytelling abilities, and collective drive to have a lasting, positive impact on the world around us.

In these turbulent times, we feel it is important to continue providing that platform. Beyond that, we are committed to finding ways to help create a stronger society; one that respects and celebrates the differences of its members. We welcome your input on how we can use our platform to achieve that goal, now and in the future.

We love you, and we look forward to those conversations. For now, we offer you this week’s playlist.

PREMIERE: Elle Mears’ Musical Journey Reaches New Heights with ‘Tequila Me’

At every turn, Elle Mears has lived a life surrounded by music. The Nashville-based singer-songwriter is the daughter of pianists – she describes her mother as a “brilliant” classical pianist, while her father’s exploration of the 80s synth movement led her to appreciate a broad range of styles.

Not to mention, she found a world-class musical mentor in her uncle, legendary bluegrass mandolin player Jimmy Gaudreau.

PHOTOS: The November 2019 Underground Writers Round

When we curate an Underground Writers Round, one focus we have is on the diversity of the lineup. If we do it right, each participant will bring something different to the table, in an effort to showcase the wide world of music that exists right in front of us.

So, if we can toot our own horns for a second… we hit the mark with this one. Friday night’s lineup certainly had a little something for everyone who packed into Nashville’s historic Douglas Corner Cafe.

The Quinn’s Daily Spinn: Thursday, November 14

Fun fact: I’m not a cold weather guy. At all. One of the wonderful things about living in Nashville is the fact that it’s 90 degrees from the end of April until the beginning of October.

So, if somebody wants to release a song in November to remind me of that feeling, it’s going to be a Daily Spinn.
