The other day, we showed you a brilliant case study from CD Baby and Canadian musician Braden Lam on how to get your music on official Spotify playlists.
Now, for the next question: how can you use your Spotify presence to make money?
A question that often arises from emerging independent artists is, “How do we get on official Spotify playlists?”
We scoured the internet to come up with an answer to that question, courtesy of CD Baby guest contributor Braden Lam.
West Palm Beach native Sam Least (real name Samuel Florexil) is a lifelong student of contemporary rhythm and blues, taking cues from greats including Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake, and using their influence to inform his sleek, modern sound.
One of the rarest of rare events happened in Washington, DC: a unanimous Congressional approval of a large piece of legislation; an affirmative 100 – 0 vote in the Senate and a 415 – 0 vote in the House. On October 11, 2018, the Orrin G. Hatch–Bob Goodlatte Music Modernization Act was signed into law.
From a catchy bass line that draws you in from the start, to the background vocals and harmonies that highlight the song, Chelsea Lyn Meyer’s “Hangover” is another great pop/rock tune.

Spotify has announced that it will hold a series of events beginning this fall, meant to give working artists the opportunity to learn from music industry experts on a variety of topics.
It’s no secret that independent musicians are struggling out there. There are some out there you have heard of, and some you haven’t heard of, working incredibly hard to get their artistic expressions out in front of audiences. A lot of times, that grind can start to look pretty bleak and exhausting if you are moving through it without any plan or strategy.
Back in January, Doylestown-based performer CJ Dunleavy alerted us to his “Philadelphia Indie” Spotify playlist, featuring 70+ noteworthy songs by local and regional artists. The playlist has since been passed on to Spotify’s algorithm curators, virtually ensuring that many more ears will have a chance to hear some amazing, under-the-radar tunes.
It seems that more performers are getting in on the playlist curation trend — including the Lehigh Valley Music Awards’ reigning Outstanding New Band/Soloist recipient, Cubbage.
Here at Lehigh Valley Underground, it is our job to connect artists to one another. Just as important is our ability to discover new local music.
