Rock On: Holiday Tunes and Winter Moods

There’s a certain moodiness to some of the tunes on this month’s edition of Rock On! befitting the time of year. The weather has turned colder, the sun’s light has dimmed, and it’s a perfect time to go inward and reflect. There are quite a few songs here that will give you that opportunity, bookended by holiday cheer.

Of course, there are plenty of high-powered moments, as well. It wouldn’t be the Rock On! playlist if you couldn’t turn it up to 11.

UMC20: The Best of November 2020

Compiling this Best Of edition of UMC20 was a challenge enough. As usual, we had a strong month of music around here, and choosing 20 songs always seems to be a formidable task.

However, this challenge pales in comparison to the one that awaits this weekend.

UMC20: Fresh Jams from Sea to Shining Sea (Nov. 3, 2020)

OK, so we all know what today is, don’t we? There’s no getting around the elephant in the room?

If you didn’t know, it’s Election Day. If you are able, today’s the day to perform your civic duty, if you haven’t already. Then, no matter what happens from there, please do everything you can to find peace, love, and understanding with your fellow citizens. The country and the world needs that right now.

Daily Spinn: TIOGA Has Been Thinking ‘Bad Things’

TIOGA’s new single, “Bad Things,” came out of a Talking Heads cover session. That influence is apparent on the track, and acknowledged by the band, who likened the single to if “David Byrne decided to hop in a spaceship and make a record that tackles simultaneously wanting to be alone, but not being able to deal with the solitude of one’s thoughts.”
