UMC20: An Explosive Start to April (April 3, 2024)

Rock and roll is alive and well, as you’ll hear throughout the first half of this week’s UMC20.

This week’s compilation is frontloaded with a variety of electric guitar sounds and turbo-powered swagger. But, as always, there’s something for everyone this week. Americana lovers will want to pay close attention to the middle of the playlist, while pop, soul, and hip hop fans will particularly enjoy the latter portions.

And, as always, we’ve got some useful nuggets from that Official Podcast of ours waiting for you at the end. Check those out — especially if you fancy yourself an artistpreneur!

UMC20: Keepin’ it Independent (July 4, 2023)

How fitting for us, an independent music outlet, to unveil the latest, freshest edition of our independent music playlist to celebrate the Fourth of July?

It’s worth noting that there are some VIBES on this one. It’s rich with R&B and soul, but that’s not all she wrote. This week’s playlist also brings the rock, delivers some bars, and even has some tender, heartfelt Americana to appeal to those tastes.

All and all, it’s a dazzling sonic fireworks show. Jump in!

But… it’s true! Our weekly installment of 20 fresh tracks brings the heat like you wouldn’t believe, seamlessly melding through genres and breaking down the barriers that prescribed musical labels often put in place.

We’ve got a smorgasbord of rock, pop, and Americana for you this week!

Also, a big shoutout to our friends at °1824 (via Universal Music Group), who are always down to share their emerging artists with us. A few appear here, as you weave your way through the playlist. A couple of them (namely, DREAMERS) will be in town tonight — and we’ll be there, camera in tow!

Let us all give thanks for these jams. Then, let’s dig in!

UMC20: Every Wednesday in July (July 20, 2022)

Tuesdays have been especially productive around here lately — so productive, that it’s taken us an extra day each week in July to compile the week’s UMC20 playlist.

Like its predecessor, this one’s worth the wait. It starts off with some raucous rock and roll (and gives a nod to this week’s NashLive! show at The 5 Spot), then heads into alternative, hip hop, and pop territory. We crossfade from pop into country, and finish it off with a solid helping of soul.

Find some new favorite tunes below!
