One EPIC first Friday of summer.
Underground Music Collective — that’s us! — will return to our homeland of Bethlehem, PA for a summertime party unlike any we’ve ever thrown.
We’ll once again team with our friends at Your Next Favorite Band at SteelStacks, as we present Sounds of the Underground: Songwriters of Eastern Pennsylvania. This special evening full of homegrown talent will take place on Friday, June 21 — the first Friday of summer — beginning at 7:30 p.m.

- Chelsea Mitchell of Dirty Dollhouse (Alt-Americana)
- Greg Adams of TIOGA (Rock)
- Kuf Knotz & Christine Elise (Hip Hop/Alternative)
- Tye Vallone & Brie Emsee of The Groove Merchants (Blues/Rock/Soul)
Then, we kick the evening into overdrive at 9 p.m., right across 1st St. on the Highmark Blue Shield Community Stage on the Air Products Town Square. There, we’ll be joined by high-powered, harmonic rock band The Beautiful Distortion, before closing the evening with Radus’ well-regarded alt-rock project, Hot4Robot.
Oh, and one more thing… it’s free to attend!
Last week, we let the cat out of the bag that we’re going forward with a virtual version of our Underground Writers Round this month!
The online event will take place over on Facebook Live on Friday, April 17 from 5-7 p.m. CDT. The beautiful thing about this, of course, is that we can invite folks from anywhere to join in. So, that’s what we’ve done.

It seemed like just last week that we were at Nashville’s historic Douglas Corner Cafe, celebrating the first Underground Writers Round of a new year and decade.

For 30 years, Lightning 100 has shone a spotlight on homegrown artists as Nashville’s independent radio station.
Their important work in the community continued on Wednesday night, when they brought their monthly Writers Night to Helping Our Music Evolve (HOME).
