The following (after the foreword) is a conversation with Lehigh Valley with Love Founder George Wacker about the organization’s rise from an anonymous satire blog, to a prominent multimedia organization in our region.
Hi everyone. I’m Gerard. Some of you might know me as a friend or relative. Others might know me as a guy who started a local music blog that seems to be doing well these days. Or, I might be a former teammate, some random person from high school or college, or someone you’ve otherwise encountered in your travels once or twice. Some of you reading this might not know me at all. In that case, it’s nice to meet you.
If you know me, you probably know that I’ve always been a person with a lot to say. You can credit it partially to my natural love of expressing words, as a former English major and someone who has always enjoyed writing. It can be credited more recently, though, to the fact that life has taken some rather interesting turns over the past three years.
That is to say, it entirely fell apart between 2015 and 2017.
The July 2018 edition of the Lehigh Valley Underground First Friday Concert Series is beginning to take shape, and it promises to be an all-American affair on July 6.
This week, we dive deeper into local arts and culture than simply music. There’s a bit of comedy, satire, and even film to enjoy throughout the Lehigh Valley. So, we decided to be well-rounded and highlight it all.

New Jersey-based rock-trio Best Hit TV announced their debut full-length album titled Being Emotionally Manipulative isn’t Very Punk Rock of You, which is set for release on July 20. The announcement came on with the release of their song “Part of Me” as a preview single. Recorded in their Newark rehearsal space, the album will follow two previous EP releases and a string of shows across New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York.
One of the Lehigh Valley’s most anticipated annual performances of the year now has a set date.
Not all bands age well. This is true when the band’s career is less than ten years. Tastes change, people’s sensibilities change, fads die and new ones are born. Young rockers become old rockers, and the bloom falls off the rose. No one wants to see their dad rage along with power chords and lyrics about fighting the man.
In the spirit of cancer awareness and making a difference in the community, Scott Marshall is keeping the momentum going from last week’s Concert for the Kids at Steel Pub.
This time, the singer-songwriter is teaming up with the American Cancer Society for a unique benefit at Hellertown’s Dimmick Park.
We had another beautiful afternoon to look forward to on the South Bethlehem Greenway, and it was aided by the rock stylings of Chelsea Lyn Meyer!
The first Thursday of June once again brought rock to the stage of Rivals Sports Bar & Restaurant in Easton, the monthly scene of Sounds of The Underground: Live!, presented by WLVU: The Sound of The Underground, The Balcony Show, and Gig Digger Entertainment.
