When I first met Carter Lansing of Acoustic Kitty Project, the band had just released its first full-length album, “‘Shine.” Now on his second album, “Saturday Night,” Carter has proven himself as a world-class songwriter and Americana storyteller.

Today’s Play of the Day is from the latter, and is one of Carter’s strongest efforts. It’s “Company Store,” which captures the feeling of working hard and gaining little traction — a feeling any creative person knows too well, from time to time.
