The Quinn’s Daily Spinn: Tuesday, May 5

Our friend Stephanie Ryann joins us over on Facebook Live tonight for a new edition of the UMC Quarantine Jam, beginning at 7 p.m. CDT (that’s 8 p.m., for those of you on the East Coast).

With that, we bring you her latest single, “For a Reason.” The singer-songwriter examines a forbidden love that is sure to end in heartbreak, but which feels euphoric in the moment. This contrast is brought forth by a stark tension in the verses, created by moody, atmospheric keys and a lonely guitar progression. This gives way to a brighter, multi-layered country pop soundscape that emerges in the chorus, before reverting back to a darker vibe. These dynamic shifts accent love’s sometimes-fleeting nature, and the empty feeling that occurs when afterglow turns to aftermath.

Sounds deep, doesn’t it? Try it out as today’s Daily Spinn!
