Emily Hicks Pops a Tab of ‘Canned Wine’

With endless tropes about cold beer and whiskey in country music, it’s always exciting to see someone in the genre mix it up.

That’s where Emily Hicks enters the scene. The Utah-based songwriter’s new single, “Canned Wine,” takes a road far less traveled in the country genre, while maintaining a carefree, summery ambiance.

“I brought the idea for ‘Canned Wine’ into a cowrite with local Nashville writers, Janie Waddell and Emily Gurklis,” Hicks said. “We wanted to write a song that poked fun at the countless drinking songs in country music about beer, but instead highlighting my drink of choice – canned wine. The song turned out to be epic, and is now one of my top requested songs when I perform live.”

The release — produced by Alex Lipshaw at SnowTree Productions in Nashville — is Hicks’ first new song in three years. Take a sip of this “Canned Wine” below!
