Best of 2016: Looking Back, Looking Ahead

To close our Best of 2016 video series (a joint LVU-Dustin Schoof production), Dustin and I each shared our favorite overall moment from our individual travels through the music scene in 2016, as well as what we’re looking forward to the most in the New Year. My responses are below. Of course, you can catch Dustin’s over at DustinSchoof.com. Mine is below.

I say something to this effect in the video below, but it bears repeating: Thank you all for being the motivating force behind all of this. When LVU launched in January, I could not have imagined it taking off to the heights it has reached. Now, I am optimistic that we will soar even higher together in the New Year.

Please be safe tonight, and have a happy and successful 2017.

Easton Heritage Day #3: Easton Rocks into the Night

Easton’s 40th Annual Heritage Day is in the books! Thousands of Valley residents came out on Saturday to hear great music from a variety of local artists, enjoy a taste of history with the re-enactment of the reading of the Declaration of Indpendence at Centre Square, and have some all-around summer fun.

As promised, we stuck around into the night and caught many more great musical performances before the evening was through. These included the Bank Street Band from Easton’s School of Rock, who performed a selection of stirring American standards and contemporary songs during the festival’s fireworks display.

Enjoy the photos below! Kudos to all those who put on a successful event, and thanks for having LVU out to capture it all!

Brian Dean Moore Band (Country rock)

Dana Gaynor Band (Blues)

Joyous (Soul/Motown)

School of Rock Easton (Rock/Alternative)

Easton Heritage Day #2: So. Much. Music.

The past few hours have been a wild time, as I’ve raced from one side of Easton’s Centre Square to the other to capture all of the great music happening downtown (with the occasional refreshment or restroom break in between).

I’ve come a long way, and by no means am I finished yet. Heritage Day is in the process of proceeding down to the riverfront for tonight’s shows and fireworks. Of course, you can be sure that I’ll be sticking around until things are finished going boom.

In the meantime, here’s what’s captured of the great performers I’ve seen so far, in order of appearance. I’ll be back with more after the conclusion of Heritage Day.

Dan DeChellis Trio (Jazz)

Swing Time Dolls (Vintage 1940s Pop)

Copper Fields (Acoustic Rock/Bluegrass)

The Jolly Tars (Traditional Irish Folk)

Roi & the Secret People (Rock)
