Duke Maroon Brings it Back with ‘Heart Attack’

The year was 2016. UMC was still wet behind the ears as a regional blog in eastern Pennsylvania known as Lehigh Valley Underground. Nashville was not yet a twinkle in our eyes. In fact, this whole experiment was still in its, well… experimental stages. Frankly, we had no idea that we’d still be here!

A young man named Doug Keller was writing for us back then, and he told us about a Philly-area band called Duke Maroon, whose single, “Heart Attack,” was featured on WXPN’s The Key as an NPR Tiny Desk submission.

Much has changed since then. We moved to Nashville. Duke Maroon took a hiatus that spanned several years. And now, with Keller in the band, they’ve decided that they’re bringin’ it back.

Max Swan’s ‘Gone Away’: An Introspective Electrosoul Vibe

Earlier this fall, we showed you an eerie juxtaposition from the mind of Max Swan – the black-and-white, abandoned streets of Philadelphia, set to a bright and nostalgic rendition of Henry Mancini’s 1967 song, “Two For the Road.”

That single finds itself on Swan’s new Gone Away EP (released Oct. 30). True to form, Swan bends genres and bares his soul – this time, on a record that explores the humanity in our flaws, and the disconnects that arise within our relationships.

LISTEN: Foxtrot & the Get Down’s ‘Too Little, Too Late’

Philly’s Foxtrot & the Get Down are having a monster 2019 so far. They swung through Nashville on their way to SXSW last month, and they’ve made plans to follow that up with new music to add to their already impressive collection.

On April 5, they followed through on their promise with their latest single, “Too Little, Too Late.”
