Here’s a band that, personally speaking, I hope will make music together once again.
One of Talia Stewart’s hallmarks as an artist is the notion of women’s empowerment. With that in mind, she has delivered on “Look Ma No Hands,” the first glimpse of her forthcoming album, set to release later this year.

A dash of neo-soul underscores strong reggae rhythms and pop sensibility on “Young Lion,” the latest single from Philly-area alt-R&B group Jutaun.
It’s been one year since Valley-based original rock band The Hook started their DIY journey. Since then Carlos, Chris, Youssef and Joe have performed 60 shows throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey, wrote, recorded, produced and released a 15-track debut LP, “Moonshine & Honey,” raised hundreds of dollars in support of suicide awareness — and more is on the way.
This October, The Hook is taking their debut album to new heights with a trip across the country to the Pacific Northwest for their first-ever tour, A Taste of Moonshine & Honey. With seven dates on the books (and counting) in Washington and Oregon, from Vancouver to Bend, The Hook has their four-eyes set on introducing their sound to the Pacific Northwest and bringing this journey full circle to frontman Carlos Barata’s second home. This June, LVU and Fig Bethlehem shed some light on The Hook’s roots in the region. This summer, The Hook will officially roll out their complete tour schedule on Facebook, Instagram and readysetgethooked.com.
“We’re incredibly excited to share our music in Washington and Oregon,” Barata said. “As a new band, 3,000+ miles away, we’re just blown away, honored, and grateful for how receptive folks in the Pacific Northwest have been. We’re really excited to take “Moonshine & Honey” to new places, and make new friends and fans along the way.”

Lehigh Valley-based roots rockers The Hook are in the midst of a busy spring. In addition to releasing their full-length debut, “Moonshine & Honey,” last month, the foursome is also featured in our Voices column in the spring edition of Fig Bethlehem (as depicted above).
Through all of this, the band is still finding time to give back.
New York native Christian Evanko, who we had the pleasure of meeting last month as part of an outstanding DIY showcase at Color Me Mine Lehigh Valley, is back with a bright new sound alongside his bandmates in The Stash.
