On the fifth floor of the downtown Cambria hotel, Nashville’s True Music Room & Bar hosts a weekly showcase known as Artist Release Thursday, featuring an artist with new music, every single week.
The artist in question this Thursday was Florida-born soul singer Kara Frazier, who came downtown to celebrate the release of her new “Seven Ages“ EP. Frazier rang in the occasion with a powerhouse set; the singer captivated her audience with impassioned delivery and impressive range, highlighted by tunes from the new release including the gospel-influenced “Deliver Me,” co-written with R&B luminary Shannon Sanders, and recent single “Dirty Water.”
Supporting Frazier on the bill were a trio of acts: Americana singer Nicole Boggs of Nicole Boggs and the Reel delivered an acoustic performance hallmarked by authentic selections like “Just Another Weekend,” while the preceding country-infused indie pop of Kenna brought a raw, organic honesty to the evening. Opening the evening was Belmont University student Del Schueler, who shined in her first full-band performance.
The festive mood in the air was also pointed toward the cause of Thistle Farms, a non-profit organization that provides rehabilitation and work opportunities to women who have survived human trafficking, prostitution, and drug addiction.
