Like the weather, the music scene plans to stay hot this week, with another weekend festival highlighting the action.

Indie rock icon Calvin Johnson is bringing his latest band, Selector Dub Narcotic, to the Bethlehem Area Public Library for a performance on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. Also performing will be Lehigh Valley indie rock band VoirVoir and New York City/Washington D.C. psychedelic pop band Secret Cities. The concert will be the second in Tape Swap Radio’s “Library After Hours” series, bringing live music to the library’s newly remodeled performance space.
One thing you might notice if you’ve been listening to WLVU: The Sound of The Underground lately is that things are seeming a bit more organized. That’s because we’re taking all of our music and categorizing it by genre. So, on Tuesday evenings, you might hear a rock block. On Sunday afternoons, you’ll hear a solid couple hours of jazz. Expect more programming blocks like this to cater to specific tastes going forward. More information is to come.

Matt Molchany, co-founder of Tape Swap Radio and guitarist/vocalist of Bethlehem indie rock band, VoirVoir, is a long-time resident of Bethelhem. Matt has attended Musikfest for many years as a patron and performer, making him the perfect candidate to take a few minutes to tell us about his journey through the festival over the years.
After a year and a half, we’re still finding new places to go to enjoy live music throughout the Valley. Thursday night took us to a cool spot in South Bethlehem that we’ve been meaning to check out, and we had the opportunity thanks to our friends at Tape Swap Radio.
July looks to be finishing strong. As we inch closer to Bethlehem’s annual, ten-day party, there’s plenty going on around the Valley to get you warmed up, concluding with another special event put on by LVU and American Spirits Roadhouse.
