After a year in the making, Lehigh Valley singer-songwriter Neil Grover is preparing to release his debut EP, “Whoa,” to the world.
Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center, located at 522 W. Maple St. in Allentown, is preparing to welcome Chicago-based singer-songwriter Edie Carey for an intimate evening of folk music on Sunday, December 10.
Our friends at Rocking the Valley hosted an easygoing Sunday evening of folk music Sunday evening at the newly-restored Camel’s Hump Farm, located at 1311 Santee Mill Rd. in Bethlehem.
Well, that was fun!
Day 1 of our May-riffic Music Festival rocked well into the night and saw top-notch performances across the board. We want to thank Carter Lansing, Jordyn Kenzie, Chelsea Lyn Meyer, Leah Marie Fuls, Rofo Audio, Summer Scouts, Camo, and Rofo Audio (again) for getting us kicked off! Photos and a recap of the entire festival are coming on Monday.
After Julia Sommer and Dana Gaynor concluded a rather magical evening at Levitt Pavilion last night, I decided to take a stroll across the street to see who was playing on the ArtsQuest Center’s TD Bank stage.
Little did I know, I would hear a familiar voice.
A rainy Saturday in Bethlehem set a mellow mood that was perfect to accompany the stellar acoustic sounds of Soul Folks at SteelStacks.
Friday night was a night for new discovery. Thus, we found ourselves in a new location — Phillipsburg’s SoMa Downtown Grill — to hear a band we’ve never covered before — acoustic folk/pop act January Noon.
Before we move forward, take a look (and a listen) back at the season so far. This week, we re-visit the great live, in-studio performances we’ve hosted so far this spring on The Quinn Spinn. Enjoy the talents of our local music scene, and treat yourself to some international Stupid News with The Quinn as a bonus feature!

After a raucous first Saturday night of Musikfest — one during which Facebook Live just wouldn’t work, probably due to the mass of people using bandwidth in such a small area — we hit the scene this afternoon for a couple of early shows before coming back to prepare for tonight’s Lehigh Valley Music Awards Rock Showcase, sponsored by Lehigh Valley Underground.
We arrived to Plaza Tropical in time for Miller and the Other Sinners, a blues/soul outfit from Buffalo, New York. Fronted by David Michael Miller, the Sinners played a noteworthy set full of blazing instrumental solos and extended jams — and, as luck would have it, Facebook Live was back up and running, if you want an example.
After the Sinners finished up at Plaza Tropical, we started to head back, but not before stopping at Red Stag Pub Liederplatz at the Sun Inn Courtyard to catch the end of a set from Reading-based folk band, Grexin’. The band was playing an unplugged set as part of the stage’s Acoustic Roadshow, and their crisp vocal harmonies and down-home rhythms made for a pleasant listen.
We’ll head out a bit later, of course, for the LVMAs Rock Showcase, featuring Another Day Dawns, Doubting Thoma$, The Cherrybombs, and Social Call. The fun starts at 8. See you there!
