This week, I’m on a week-long “staycation” from the day job, which has presented me with an opportunity to catch up on sleep and get all of LVU’s pre-Musikfest ducks in a row before things get extra wacky around here.
It also made Tuesday night as good a night as any to hit the scene… so, that’s what I did.
July looks to be finishing strong. As we inch closer to Bethlehem’s annual, ten-day party, there’s plenty going on around the Valley to get you warmed up, concluding with another special event put on by LVU and American Spirits Roadhouse.

Tape Swap Radio is celebrating its fourth anniversary recording bands and hosting concerts in the Lehigh Valley with the launch of a new live series dubbed, ‘Rooftop Sessions.’ Tape Swap Radio, started by Lehigh Valley residents Matt Molchany and Shamus McGroggan in 2013, has partnered with The Alternative Gallery in Allentown to record live sets from bands on the roof of the four-story Cigar Factory Artist Studios building in South Allentown.
When EU4IA performs at The Originals Music Series Thursday night at 7 p.m., it will be the first performance in a long time for the Lehigh Valley alt rockers.

On Friday, June 23 at Chicago Restaurant and Club Gravity, the Third Annual Lehigh Valley Musicians Social took place. My colleague Pitbull and I were filled with anticipation and excitement for the night’s events. As always, when you plan a party (because yes, this was a party), there is always a bit of nervousness, hoping that everything goes as planned without any hiccups.
Before you head out to celebrate your independence, recognize that you have the freedom of choice. There is a lot to choose from on the scene this week and, as always, there’s a little bit of something for everybody.
