LISTEN: Foo Fighter Chris Shiflett Gets Nostalgic on ‘Born & Raised’

You may know Chris Shiflett for his work as the lead guitarist of modern rock legends and first-ballot Rock & Roll Hall of Famers, Foo Fighters.

What you should also know is that Shiflett is building an impressive solo catalog of his own. He just added to it on Friday with his latest single, “Born & Raised.”

LISTEN: Erin McLendon’s Self-Titled EP Proves to be Worth the Wait

The journey to Erin McLendon‘s self-titled EP — the follow-up to 2017’s full length debut, Making It Up As We Go — began in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. We got our first taste last February, with the release of the raucous, unconventional love song, “Shakin’ In My Boots.” From there, we were treated earlier this year to a “Cell Block Tango” inspired tale of infidelity (“Millie”), followed by a cheeky nod to the holier-than-thou, titled “Sunday Crowd.”

The new record dropped in its entirety on Friday. Alongside the aforementioned moments, there are more memorable cuts that are sure to stir your emotions and have you nodding along.

UMC20: Back in the Saddle (Aug. 16, 2022)

I’m back in the saddle to supply you with this week’s fresh UMC20 playlist. However, the Sheriff isn’t back in town just yet. That’ll be in a few weeks, when I make my trek back to Nashville on Labor Day.

The good news? After my Musikfest adventure, I’m back to working remotely! I’ll be checking in as usual from here on, and I thought I would do so by bringing you some new HEAT.

Embrace the heat. Listen to UMC20 below!

NashLive! Takeover: A Special Writers Round at The Listening Room

NashLive! will be taking over Nashville’s iconic The Listening Room Cafe on Monday, October 3 with a special writers round event — featuring songwriters from here in Nashville… and beyond!

TICKETS

Billy Bauer is a Bethlehem, PA-based songwriter and the frontman of Billy Bauer Band, an acoustic rock quartet who has opened for the likes of Tim Reynolds, Phillip Phillips, Third Eye Blind, and many more, and whose popular Dave Matthews Band tribute show sells out venues across eastern Pennsylvania. Billy will bring his Martin Guitar all the way to Nashville to perform selections from the band’s catalog, which dates all the way back to 2006’s full-length debut, Another Day is Coming.

Erin McLendon is a country artist, entrepreneur, and co-founder of Music on the Move Studios, a community organization which provides educational and performance opportunities to Nashville’s robust community of female musicians and entrepreneurs. Erin is gearing up to release a new album later this summer, with the first two singles — “Millie” and “Sunday Crowd” — available for streaming everywhere!

Speaking of powerhouse female musicians-slash-entrepreneurs, J.Antonette certainly fits the description. Not only is the New York native a force to be reckoned with on the pop country circuit — her latest single, “Heartbroken in a Honky Tonk,” is out now — but she is the founder of Native Manor, a boutique entertainment company based in Nashville and New York City, and Bundle Up Nash, a charitable organization known for its holiday clothing and toy drives.

Growing up in a self-described “wacky, doomsday Bible cult,” Wesley David sought refuge through music. His passion has served him well — for many years, Wes has toured the country performing his whimsical, tongue-in-cheek blend of pop and rock for live audiences of all shapes and sizes. This October, he’ll join us as he hits the road in advance of his 6-song EP, Satori, due out later this year.

UMC20: Every Wednesday in July (July 20, 2022)

Tuesdays have been especially productive around here lately — so productive, that it’s taken us an extra day each week in July to compile the week’s UMC20 playlist.

Like its predecessor, this one’s worth the wait. It starts off with some raucous rock and roll (and gives a nod to this week’s NashLive! show at The 5 Spot), then heads into alternative, hip hop, and pop territory. We crossfade from pop into country, and finish it off with a solid helping of soul.
