Erin McLendon founded Nashville-based Music on the Move Studios (formerly Women on Fire) with an all-female showcase in January 2019. Since then, Music on the Move has evolved into a creative ecosystem for female artists and entrepreneurs alike.

Erin makes her record-breaking fourth guest appearance on The Quinn Spinn to discuss Music on the Move’s evolution alongside her own, in advance of their biggest showcase to date at Nashville’s 3rd & Lindsley on Tuesday, October 10.

Erin McLendon and Caitie Thompson are the co-founders of Music on the Move Studios. Both Erin and Caitie are music educators — Erin teaches voice, while Caitie teaches multiple instruments — who are passionate about helping budding performers achieve their potential. In addition, Music on the Move’s all-female showcases provide independent artists and small businesses with a chance to build community in a live setting, while Caitie’s Paradox Jukebox podcast gives the members of that community an opportunity to share their stories.

Why Music on The Move Studios? A Chat with Co-Founders Erin McLendon & Caitie Thompson

The idea behind Music on The Move Studios all started because I saw a need to showcase the independent female artists outside of a writer’s round, outside of Nashville’s infamous Lower Broad, and create an all-new experience for the music lover in town. Thus, Women on Fire was born in January of 2019. Unfortunately, that title was already trademarked; so, when it came time to rebrand, I took the name of the television show (that had also been temporarily shut down due to COVID, stay tuned for more on that!) and made it our entire brand. 

By now, you’ve already learned what Music on The Move Studios is all about. Now, it’s time to learn why it was created. For this, I chatted with my co-founder, Caitie Thompson.
