The Lehigh Valley Underground First Friday Concert Series concluded for 2017 with a healthy dose of holiday cheer which included, among other things, charitable work, a fun new pub crawl and — of course — a healthy smattering of live, local music throughout South Bethlehem.
A little over a week ago, The Sherman Theater hosted an EP release party for the up and coming pop punk/emo/hardcore/ska-influenced band, Keep Flying. It was more of a one-day fest, as the bill consisted of roughly ten bands.

ArtsQuest’s SouthSide Arts & Music Festival is getting a makeover.
We’ve been talking a lot about big shows lately here at Lehigh Valley Underground. From announcing our First Annual Winter Jamboree, to presenting you with our take on a big opportunity with Bon Jovi, it appears as though 2017 is setting up nicely for all levels of the live scene.
The gifts are unwrapped. The Christmas trees have been tossed. Tomorrow night, we’ll all (safely) party with loved ones to say goodbye to the old and hello to the new. 2016, effectively, is a wrap.
Lehigh Valley Underground has been at this thing for almost a year. In that time, we have met so many talented artists, we’re positive that there will never be a shortage of great music to cover.
That includes the live scene, which, as we’ve found, is active year-round around these parts. While we certainly have plenty of artists that we like to catch whenever possible, we’re not going to give away who our favorites are juuuuuust yet. (Spoilers: Perhaps we will toward the end of the year…)
While we’re not showing our hand until it’s time to review this wild and wonderful year, we got to thinking that you, our loyal readers, probably have plenty of good suggestions for us to check out right now.
Whether you’ve seen them covered on LVU before, or they’re new music to our ears, we want to know: Who are your favorite local acts to see live?

Friday evening was a good one to spend indoors, with the threat of rain looming and the temperatures lower than we’ve become accustomed to in recent months. It was also perfect jazz weather, making Chris Cummings Trio’s performance at Weyerbacher’s Tap Room a timely event.
The music accented a friendly post-work week atmosphere, topped off with good friends and great local beers from one of the region’s top breweries. Some moments are captured below. Enjoy!
