Wednesday Wisdom: Tips for Staying Motivated This Spring

Once the seasons change, and we catch the first glimmers of spring after enduring the winter blahs, it can be hard to stay focused on what we need to do when there’s a sunny day tempting us to go out and have fun. Believe me, I’ve been there. Maybe it’s the conditioning we’ve held onto from school that tells us that once the spring hits, summer is just around the corner, but it can be really hard to concentrate on all the tasks on that to-do list when we’d much rather be enjoying the fresh air.

As musicians, I know you have never-ending to-do lists that practically requires you to split yourself into three (or maybe even four) different humans to take care of the songwriting, and the booking, and the social media, and everything else that comes with growing an artistic career in this day and age. But with just a few tweaks, you’ll be able to fly through that to-do list in no time — even when the last thing you want to do is sit at your computer all day.

LISTEN: AGE of the BEAR Wows Us (Again) with ‘Waterfell’

We’ve known the incredibly talented Anthony Cubbage since our shared time in Pennsylvania, during the days of a little upstart music blog called Lehigh Valley Underground.

Life has since taken us to different locations. As you may know, we rebranded and arrived in Nashville in 2018, while Cubbage relocated to a burgeoning original music scene in upstate New York a couple years back. Through it all, one thing that has remained consistent is Cubbage’s ability to write and release compelling, emotive songs. No matter the genre, he always seems to strike gold.

LISTEN: Greg in Good Company Makes Us Feel at ‘HOME’

Artwork: Lee Schneiderman

For years, we’ve had the opportunity to appreciate the work of Greg in Good Company, fronted by Los Angeles-based troubadour Greg Gilman.

They’re back for 2023 with “HOME,” a rollicking new single that explores mental illness from varying perspectives.

WrestleMania Aftermath (ft. The OG Quinn Spinn Family)

Our very own Scotty Rock got to pay a visit to Los Angeles at the beginning of April for WrestleMania 39. We discuss the iconic pop culture event, give our reactions to the event’s results, and provide our take on where things might go from here.

Also, we go off the rails plenty, because that’s just what we do around here. We have a spectacular Stupid News involving a Samurai sword, and let’s just say that the essence of each cast member remains strong throughout the episode.
